Abstract: VIDEO TAPE RECORDER In an apparatus for recording and/or reproducing a television signal with multiplex audio signals, a pilot signal is recorded on one or both of the audio tracks of a video tape in a manner to identify the mode of the mutliplex audio signals and each pilot signal is detected to establish such mode when reproducing. For example, the frequency of the pilot signal may be changed for identifying different modes of the multiplex audio signals, such as, the bilingual mode and the stereo-phonic mode, with the pilot signal of selected frequency being recorded on one of the audio tracks or the pilot signal having a certain frequency is recorded on one of the audio tracks in the case of the bilingual mode, and on the other audio track of the tape in case of the stereo-phonic mode. In still another embodiment, the pilot signal is recorded in both audio tracks of the tape and the phase relation of the recorded pilot signals is varied to identify the mode of the multiplex audio signals.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To attain the obtaining of correct editions by setting timings of edition reproducing and recording commands according to responce delay times while measuring responce delay times of video recorders and video reproducers. CONSTITUTION: A reproducing temporary stopping command is transmitted from the controller 14 of a television receiver 1 to respective AV equipments 2 to 7. When AV equipments are judged to become temporary stoppage states, an edition reproducing command is transmitted to them and then a delay Ts is fetched into the controller 14 by measuring a time until the reproducing completion notices come. Next, a video recording temporary stopping command is transmitted from the controller 14 to AV equipments 2 to 5. Then, when they are judged to be temporary stoppage states an edition video recording command is transmitted to them and a delay Td is fetched into the controller 14 by measuring a time until recording completion notices come. When the AV center 1 receives triggers of edition startings, the controller 14 compares the Td with the Ts and then transmits edition reproducing and recording commands to AV equipments by controlling the time difference between delay times to execute editions correctly.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To simplify the after-recording operation by allowing a controller for a television receiver being an AV (audio video) center to recognize the types of AV equipments and the operation of the Av equipments based on an address. CONSTITUTION:When an AV center being a television receiver 1 has an execution function, one of video recorders VTR2-5 being after-recording execution equipments is a VTR having an after-recording function. Upon the receipt of a trigger for starting after-recording, the AV center 1 sends an input output changeover command to each equipment in the system to form an after- recording. When the after-recording path is forded, an after-recording command is sent to an after-recording execution equipment and a reproduction start command is sent to a source equipment (other one in the VTR 2-5). The after- recording execution equipment is set to the after-recording mode by the after- recording command and the source equipment starts reproduction by the reproduction start command. Thus, the after-recording operation is simplified by the one-touch after-recording function.

After a video signal is interrupted and the fixed time elapses, power sources of an AV center and all AV devices can be turned off by a 'auto-all-off' function. Also, when a recording medium of either of a recording side and reproducing side is finished at the time of dubbing, power sources of the AV center and all AV devices can be turned off by a 'copy-end-all-off' function. When the set hour elapses or the set time elapses, power sources of the AV center and all AV devices can be turned off by a 'timer-all-off' function.

In addition, a system wakeup function for the timer setting time, a timer recording detouring function which facilitates the usage of the apparatus during the timer waiting, a deck relay timer function, an external satellite tuner timer recording function, etc., are provided.
