Abstract:
The present invention relates to a coated fiber based substrate comprising a dispersion coating wherein said dispersion coating comprises microfibrillated cellulose and colloidal particles of a polymer. The invention further relates to a package formed from said substrate, a dispersion coating and process for the production of mentioned substrate.
Abstract:
A method for forming a thermoplastic composite material in a papermaking machine, wherein the method comprises the steps of: forming an aqueous fiber material suspension; bringing said fiber suspension in contact with at least one additive, said additive being introduced into said fiber suspension, whereby said additive reacts to form a precipitation product onto or into the fibers, thereby forming an intermediate suspension, introducing, after the formation of the intermediate suspension, a plastic material into said intermediate suspension, thereby forming a plastic fiber composite suspension.
Abstract:
A method for drying nanofibrillated polysaccharide to obtain a substantially dry nanofibrillated polysaccharide product, comprising the following steps: (i) providing an aqueous suspension of nanofibrillated polysaccharide; (ii) increasing the solid content of said suspension, thereby forming a high solid content microfibrillated cellulose suspension; and (iii) drying said high solid content microfibrillated cellulose suspension, through a simultaneous heating and mixing operation.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a surface treatment composition for paper, board or other fibrous webs. The composition of the invention comprises particles which comprise an active material and a supporting material. The active material comprises a salt or a multivalent metal, such as a divalent or trivalent metal. In accordance with the invention, the supporting material is adapted to release the active material from the particles when subjected to heat and/or pressure and/or a change in pH. Consequently, the active material's adverse effects on the rheology of the composition are avoided while its desired effects on the surface characteristics are retained or enhanced.
Abstract:
A process for treating cellulosic fibres comprising pre-treating the fibres with an enzyme in a first enzymatic treatment followed by mechanical pre-treating the fibres in a first mechanical treatment and a second enzymatic treatment followed by a second mechanical treatment of the fibres to form micofibrillated cellulose. In this way it is possible to produce mircofibrillated cellulose (MFC) in an improved and energy efficient way.
Abstract:
The invention refers to a method to produce a packaging material comprising the steps of; treating at least one surface of a paperboard substrate with a binder and with a metal salt, printing at least a part of said treated surface with ink, and applying at least one polymer layer on said printed surface. The packaging material produced in accordance with the invention shows good printability and simultaneously good adhesion of the applied polymer layer.
