Abstract: PCT No. PCT/JP89/00532 Sec. 371 Date Mar. 25, 1991 Sec. 102(e) Date Mar. 25, 1991 PCT Filed May 26, 1989 PCT Pub. No. WO90/14024 PCT Pub. Date Nov. 29, 1990.A dust-proof headgear which, although having a simple construction, exhibits an excellent dust-proof performance to thereby remarkably reduce a scattering of hair, dandruff and dust from the wearer's head, while exhibiting a high air-permeability to thus eliminate any feeling of sultryness or stuffyness even when worn for a long time. The dust-proof headgear is made of a material having, as a major component thereof, an electret non-woven fabric having a surface electrostatic charge density of 1x10-10 Coulomb/cm2 or greater and an air-permeability of between 10 cc/cm2.sec and 1000 cc/cm2.sec. The headgear of the invention is highly effective for use in various fields of industry in which environmental contamination by contaminants from the heads of workers or habitants is strictly forbidden, e.g., the foodstuff industry, electronic industry, precision machining industry, and medical industry.

Abstract: This invention relates to an electret material having thermal stability and capable of having high trapped charge quantity and stably existing for a long period of time and a process for preparing said electret material. The electret material of the present invention is characterized in that it comprises 100 parts by weight of polypropylene, 0.01 to 2 parts by weight of at least one stabilizer selected from among hindered amine, nitrogen-containing hindered phenol, and metal-containing hindered phenol stabilizers and that at least part of said propylene has such a molecular weight distribution that the Mw/Mn ratio wherein Mw is a weight-average molecular weight is 5.5 or less. The electret material of the present invention can be widely used for various applications and, e.g., is best suited for use in, e.g., various filter materials, wiper materials, adsorption materials, masking materials, and dust-proof materials.

Abstract: Disclosed are a process for producing a tubular nonwoven fabric and tubular nonwoven fabrics produced by the same. In the process, a web is formed on a first rotating cylinder by catching fibers carried to the surface of the first rotating cylinder by a fluid, the web is transferred to a second rotating cylinder, a tube of the transferred web is formed on and around the second rotating cylinder, and the tube is drawn in the axial direction of the second rotating cylinder to form a tubular nonwoven fabric. The tubular nonwoven fabric with a high unit weight can be produced without elongating or breaking the nonwoven fabric, and the diameter of the tubular nonwoven fabric can be freely changed.

Abstract: The specification discloses a thermal stencil paper for mimeograph, having a uniform shape of pores and well-balanced retainability and permeability of printing ink. Thermal stencil paper for mimeograph formed by laminating a porous support member comprising polyester fibers on one surface of a polyester film, characterized in that the porous support member forms a reticulate body having a fusing point at which the fibers are fused to one another, a film which straddles the fibers, and which has a thickness smaller than an average fiber diameter, being formed at some of the fusing points in the reticulate body. Since such thermal stencil paper for mimeograph is provided, the printed matter obtained by a mimeograph using this stencil paper has a high quality of image, and set-off does not occur. Such printed matter is highly convenient to transport.

Abstract: A process and apparatus for producing a non-woven, especially a non-woven electret, fiber sheet provides for directing the non-woven fibers at a collecting surface and into an electric field between at least one electrode and the collecting surface. This process, in which the fibers are collected in the electric field, enables economical production of a non-woven electret fiber sheet of a single layer structure having a large amount of polarized charges (giving a total electric charge per unit area of at least 7 x 10 Coulomb/cm ), and a weight per unit area of at least 60 g/m , preferably greater than 80 g/m . The non-woven electret sheet may have the large amount of electret charge throughout its thickness and/or a uniform weight distribution and thus have excellent dust collecting properties.
