    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a high speed process for the production of a biaxial oriented polyester film protecting its surface from damage by controlling the average height of projections, the number of projections, the radius of curvature of the projection tops to the specific values, respectively, on the surface of the film which contains a specific amount of chain particles having a specific average radius of primary particles and a specific chain coefficient and inactive particles with a specific average radius. CONSTITUTION:A biaxial oriented polyester film is controlled to contain 0.005-5wt.% of chain particles having an average radius of primary particles of 1-400nm and a chain coefficient of 3-200 and inactive particles with an average radius of 0.3-2mum. The film surface is also controlled to have an average height of projections of 50-500nm, the number of projections of 1000/mm or more, and the radius of curvature of projection tops of 0.3-3.0mum, where the branching index of chain particles is 1-50. This film is laminated at least on one surface of a polyester film. By the lamination, a special interaction is generated between the particles and the polyester film to form a special structure on the film surface, so that the surface is protected from damage even when the processing speed is increased.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To make the surface of a film hard to damage and to enhance the dubbing properties of the film when the film is used as a magnetic recording medium, in the film having a specific laminated structure, by setting the kind, size and content of the particle contained in the specific laminated structure to specific ranges and also setting the relation between the particle size and lamination thickness to a specific range. CONSTITUTION:A biaxially oriented laminated polyester film has a laminated structure consisting of at least three layers wherein a base layer part is provided between both uppermost surface laminated parts. An inorg. particle A having Mooth hardness of 2-5 is contained in the uppermost surface laminated part on at least the single surface of the film and the content PHIA1 thereof is 0.01-2.0wt.%. The mean particle size dA of the particle A is 0.1-2.0mum and the lamination thickness t1 of each of the uppermost surface laminated parts satisfies formula. Polyester is not especially limited but polyester containing polyethylene terephthalate as a principal constituent component is especially pref. As the inorg. particle, for example, calcium carbonate, kaolin, calcium phosphate or talc can be designated by calcium carbonate is especially pref.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the title film improved in abrasion resistance by mixing a thermoplastic resin with specified linked particles, forming the mixture into a film and biaxially orienting this film. CONSTITUTION:A thermoplastic resin (e.g. polyethylene terephthalate) is mixed with 0.005-5wt.% linked particles having a mean particle diameter of the primary particle of 1-400nm and a linking coefficient of 3-200 and desirably having a degree of branching of 1-50 and Mohs hardness of 5-10 and optionally a dispersant and 0.005-0.5wt.% inert particles, and the mixture is formed into a film to obtain an unoriented film. This film is biaxially oriented to obtain the title film having an average surface roughness of 0.003-0.060mum on at least either surface.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide the subject film containing specific amounts of two specific kinds of inert particles, having excellent scratch resistance and abrasion resistance and suitable as a base film for magnetic tape, packaging film and film for various industrial materials. CONSTITUTION:The objective film contains two kinds of inert particles A and B each having Mohs hardness of >=6. The particle A has an average particle diameter d1 of 10-500nm and its content in the film is 0.2-2.0wt.%. The particle B has an average particle diameter d2 of 300-1,500nm and larger than the average diameter d1 of the particle A and its content in the film is 0.005-0.15wt.%. The difference of Mohs hardness of the particle A and that of the particle B is preferably >1. The standard deviation of the height distribution of the surface protrusions of the film is preferably OMEGA.cm.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve tearability and cutting easiness of polyester while maintaining the strength in a practical use by biaxially orienting polyester copolymerized at a specific molar ratio of crosslinking comonomer component to specify its performance. CONSTITUTION:A polyester in which at least one type or more of crosslinking comonomer component is copolymerized by 0.2-0.3mol% is provided. The polyester may contain as a main ingredient saturated linear polyester having film forming capacity. The comonomer component is selected from aromatic polycarboxylic acids, fatty trivalent alcohols. The intrinsic viscosity of the biaxially oriented polyester film is 0.45-0.62 and preferably 0.45-0.57. The film has at least 280g/mm or less and preferably 250g/mm or less of unidirectional tearing propagation resistance.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain excellent perforation sensitivity by setting the temp. change of the heat shrinkage stress in one direction of an oriented film from specific temp. to the m.p. of the film so that the difference between peak temp. and the temp. changing up to the specific % of the peak value of the heat shrinkage stress is a specific value or less and the temp. changing up to the specific % of the peak value of the heat shrinage stress is within a specific value range. CONSTITUTION:The temp. change of the heat shrinkage stress in at least one direction of an oriented film composed of a thermoplastic resin from 20 deg.C to the m.p. of 130-200 deg.C of the film is set so as to satisfy a specific condition. At first, by setting the difference between peak temp. and the temp. changing up to 5% of the peak value of the heat shrinkage stress to 60 deg.C or lower in the change of the heat shrinkage stress in at least one direction of the film from 20 deg.C to the m.p. thereof, the heat shrinkage stress characteristic up to the peak temp. becomes harp and, especially, perforation sensitivity and resolving power are made excellent. Secondly, the temp. changing up to 5% of the peak value of the heat shrinkage stress is necessarily set to the temp. range of 40-80 deg.C and, when the temp. is lower than 40 deg.C, stencil paper is easy to cause a curl and, when exceeds 80 deg.C, perforation sensitivity is lowered.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a film excellent in productivity, travelling properties, transparency, etc., by incorporating a specified amt. of alumina particles having specified average primary particle size, crystal state, and average degree of agglomeration into the film. CONSTITUTION:A specified amt. of alumina particles having an average primary particle size of 5-200nm and a crystal state selected from alpha, chi, eta, and theta types are mixed with a diol component for producing a polyester to form a slurry, which is heated to cause agglomeration of the particles, and used for producing a polyester by the usual method. The polyester is formed into a film and biaxially oriented to give the film contg. 0.05-5wt.% alumina particles with an average degree of agglomeration of 5-100. The obtd. film is resistance to scratch even in high-speed processing and is free from trouble due to scratching.
