    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a high polymerization degree aromatic polyester of outstanding mechanical properties with high solvent and heat resistance, by interfacial polymerization at specified temperatures, between a specific organic solvent solution of acid chloride and an alkaline aqueous solution of specific bisphenol. CONSTITUTION:The objective polyester can be obtained by interfacial polycondensation between (A) 1-40wt% terephthalic and/or isophthalic acid dichloride organic solvent solution (said solvent is a 1-10C halogenated hydrocarbon, its boiling point T being >=35 deg.C; pref. methylene chloride, chloroform) and (B) an alkaline aqueous solution of a bisphenol of formula (R , R , R and R are each H, halogen, 1-8C alkyl, etc.) [pref. bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)sulfone, etc.] with a concentration 1-30wt%, in such amounts as to be 0.7-1.5mol of the bisphenol per mole of the dicarboxylic acid component, at a temperature between (T- 15) deg.C and (T+15) deg.C.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:The titled compsn. capable of giving a molded product with excellent mechanical properties such as impact resistance and good resistance to deterioration by dry heat, prepd. by incorporating a specified glycidyl group-contg. copolymer and a thiodicarboxylic acid ester in an arom. polyester. CONSTITUTION:The titled compsn. prepd. by incorporating (B) 1-70pts.wt. glycidyl group-contg. copolymer comprising alpha-olefin such as ethylene and alpha,beta- unsaturated acid glycidyl ester such as glycidyl methacrylate and (C) 0.01- 5pts.wt. thiodicarboxylic acid of the formula (wherein R is alkylene; R is alkyl) such as distearyl thiodipropionate in (A) 100pts.wt. arom. polyester such as polyethylene terephthalate. The compsn. can be molded easily by conventional methods such as injection or extrusion, and the molded product obtd. has excellent mechanical properties such as impact resistance and good resistance to deterioration by dry heat.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a composition composed of polyethylene-1,2-bis(2-chlorophenoxy)ethane-4,4'-dicarboxylate and polybutylene terephthalate, and having a uniform and excellent adhesivity to metallic deposit and giving metallized surface having excellent appearance. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition is produced by compounding (A) 1- 99pts.wt., preferably 5-95pts.wt. of polyethylene-1,2-bis(2-chlorophenyoxy)ethane- 4,4'-dicarboxylate and (B) 99-1pts.wt., preferably 5-95pts.wt. of polybutylene terephthalate. The relative viscosity of both components A and B measured as 0.5% o-chlorophenol solution at 25 deg.C is 1.2-2.0, preferably 1.3-1.85. The mixing of the components is carried out at 230-310 deg.C, preferably 250-285 deg.C.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a biaxially oriented polyester film, comprising specific chlorine-containing polyester and a thermoplastic polymer and processed into a thin tape excellent in slit forming property during the preparation of a magnetic tape and having good running property. CONSTITUTION:Polyester based on a repeating unit represented by formula A [wherein a constitutional unit ( I ) has formula B, a constitutional unit II has formula C (wherein chlorine in the consitutional unit is at an ortho-position to an oxygen atom adjacent to a benzene ring) and (n) is 0-0.15] is used. That is, a mixture consisting of about 95-55wt% of the above mentioned polyester (i) and about 5-45wt% of a thermoplastic polymer (ii) with cohesive energy density of 135-175cal/cm (e.g., polyethylene terephthalate) is melted and extruded into a sheet form while the formed sheet is biaxially oriented to obtain a film of which the refractive index in a thickness direction is 0.935-0.98, the glass transition point is 85-120 deg.C and melting entropy change is 8-15cal/g.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:An aromatic copolyester capable of providing melt-molded products excellent in mechaical properties and optical anisotropy, comprising four kinds of residues derived from p-hydroxybenzoic acid, 4,4'-diphenyldicarboxylic acid, terephthalic acid and hydroquinone. CONSTITUTION:An aromatic copolyester containing structural units of formulasI-IV as essential constitutents, wherein the units of formulaIconstitute 30- 80mol% of the total, the molar ratio of formula II/formula III is 9/1-4/6, and the sum of formulas II and III is equimolar to formula IV. The structural unit of formulaIis a residue dervied by removing H and a hydroxyl group from p- hydroxy-benzoic acid, and the structural units of formulas II and III are residues derived by removing a hydroxyl group from each of 4,4'-diphenylcarboxylic acid and terephthalic acid, and the structural unit of formula IV is a residue derived by removing the terminal H from hydroquinone.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a polyester film of high elastic modulus, high strength by a method whrein copolymeric polyester that consists of dicarboxylic acid component and diol component and is provided with a specific heat crystallizing temperature and a specific glass transtion temperature is cooled at a specific thickness and under a specific condition, then, strentched biaxially at a specific percent of stretching. CONSTITUTION:Copolymerized polyester that comprises dicarboxylic acid component consisting of 40-70mol% of 4,4'-diphenyl carboxylic acid and 60- 30mol% of terephthalic acid and/or isophthalic acid and diol component consisting mainly of ethylene glycol and has a difference of 20 deg.C or more between the heat crystallizing temperature and the glass transition temperature, is melt- extruded in the form of the film having a thickness 200mum or less and cooled on a cooling drum with temperature 45 deg.C or below, then, stretched biaxially so that the magnification of area is increased 16-50 times. Thus it is possible to obtain an oriented film improved remarkably in strength and elastic modulus.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prepare the titled composition having balanced and excellent high- temperature mechanical properties, appearance of the molded article, and heat resistance, and good extrusion stability and moldability, by compounding a polyester resin with fibrous or granular reinforcing agent in combination with a high molecular polyphenylene sulfide. CONSTITUTION:100pts.wt. of a thermoplastic polyester is compounded with 5- 150pts., pref. 10-130pts. of fibrous and/or granular reinforcing agent and 5- 100pts, pref. 10-80pts. of polyphenylene sulfide having a weight average molecular weight of 20,000-50,000 and a melting point of 270-290 deg.C. The polyphenylene sulfide can be prepared by maintaining a sulfur-donative compound such as a thiosulfate and p-dihalogenobenzene under the polymerizing conditions in the presence of an alkali metal acetate.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To efficiently obtain a copolymerized polyester of diphenyl-4,4'-dicarboxylic acid, excellent in melt moldability, by conducting estrification, before polycondensation, in the presence of an esterification product preliminarily prepared. CONSTITUTION:A copolymerized polyester containing 20-80mol% of ethylene diphenyl-4,4'-dicarboxylate unit is prepared by means of estreification, which is carried out by continuously or intermittently feeding a slurry, obtained by the admixture of an aromatic dicarboxylic acid, containing 20-100mol% of diphenyl- 4,4'-dicarboxylic acid, with at least an equal mol, to said aromatic dicarboxylic acid, of ethylene glycol, into a system, preliminarily containing at least 25wt%, based on the total dicarboxylic acid in said slurry, of an esterification product and/or an ester exchange product, composed of an aromatic dicarboxylic acid, containing 0-80mol% of diphenyl-4,4'-dicarboxylic acid or its ester-forming derivative, and of ethylene glycol, followed by polycondensation.
