Abstract: PURPOSE:To stably obtain the subject fiber of fine diameter due to improvement in draft with hardly any yarn breakage by applying a binder to pitch fibers using ceramics as a yarn contact surface. CONSTITUTION:Pitch, such as petroleum or coal based pitch, is melt spun, brought into contact and passed through a device having a contact surface which is ceramics, e.g., alumina, for applying a binder, such as water, with preferably

Abstract: PURPOSE:After melt spinning, an aromatic sulfide polymer is subjected to multi- stage drawing under specific conditions to produce the titled fiber with increased heat resistance and chemical resistance as well as improved mechanical properties. CONSTITUTION:An aromatic sulfide polymer of the formula (Ar is aromatic group such as phenylene, biphenylene, or biphenylene ether) is melt spun and subjected to two or more stage drawing wherein the first-stage drawing is effected at a higher draw ratio than its natural draw ratio of the undrawn yarn. Then, successive drawings are effected so that the total draw ratio becomes 1.0-2.0 to the first-stage draw ratio and the second drawing is conducted at a higher temperature than that of the first stage drawing, preferably at 150-260 deg.C, thus producing the objective fiber.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain crimped filament yarns having practical in the spinning stage at once, by jetting extruded filament yarns through the small nozzle at the end of a pressurizing chamber to a crimping part at tip of the chamber to form buckled yarns. CONSTITUTION:The fiber-forming melt 10 extruded through the spinnre 1 into the pressurizing chamber 2 is jetted from the small nozzle 4 at the tip of the chamber 2 together with the high-pressure fluid fed from the inlet 3 at a high speed, and oriented while being cooled and solidified. The yarns reached the crimping part 7 are made to collide with the fibrous mass previously piled and buckled, then separated from the fluid and piled as the crimped fibrous mass 11, which is moved slowly downward by the pressure of the fluid and the impulse of the yarns at the collision against the frictional force of the permeable wall, heat-set at the heater 8 as required, and wound or collected by a can in the form of the fibrous mass.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the title novel fiber good in mechanical properties, extremely high in chemical resistance, also high in heat resistance and low in shrinkage by specifying tenacity, Young's modulus and strength retention rate after sulfuric acid immersion. CONSTITUTION:The objective fiber >=4.6g/de in tenacity. >=60g/de in Young's modulus and >=60% in strength retention rate after immersion in 98% sulfuric acid at room temperature. It is preferable that this fiber be obtained by the following process: undrawn yarn prepared by melt spinning of an aromatic sulfide polymer is drawn by a factor of at least its natural draw ratio under heating to 80-120 deg.C, and the resultant semi-drawn yarn is further drawn at 150-260 deg.C so that the total draw ratio fall between 1 and 1.5 times the draw ratio at the first stage.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To carry out the title melt spinning in high stability for a long period, in such a way that a nonoxidative gas is fed to the negative-pressure space produced by the air flow associated with the pitch yarn to seal the spinneret face. CONSTITUTION:In carrying out a melt spinning of pitch, a nonoxidative gas (pref., nitrogen gas) is fed to the negative-pressure space produced by the air flow associated with the pitch yarn to seal the spinneret face (pref., a nonoxidative gas ca. 0.1m/sec in flow rate and ca. 110 deg.C in temperature is fed to a space >=0.1m in size near the spinneret and made to be absorbed in the negative-pressure space, thereby sealing the spinneret surface from air), thus obtaining a pitch yarn having desired fiber diameter and filament count in high stability.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide the title transfer process through rollers designed so that the roller surfaces to come into contact with the pitch yarn are treated with a fluororesin to effect stabilized transference without damaging the yarn, thereby obtaining a high-grade, fluff-free pitch yarn. CONSTITUTION:When a pitch yarn is to be transferred through running via rollers, particularly in the melt spinning process to handle said yarn in high speed, the roller surfaces to come into contact with the yarn are treated with a fluororesin (pref., a fluororesin is chemically or physically pressed into chromium-plated surfaces), thereby reducing yarn breakage and obtaining a pitch yarn in good operability.
