    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for continuously producing carbon fibers, capable of preventing the carbon fibers from wrapping around a roller or breaking and capable of continuously obtaining the carbon fibers little in fuzzes and excellent in handling in downstream processings in improved production efficiency by subjecting a precursor fiber bundle to a flame-resistant treatment, imparting water to the flame-resistant fiber bundle and subsequently carbonizing the treated fiber bundle. SOLUTION: This method for continuously producing carbon fibers comprises heating the precursor fiber bundle of polyacrylonitrile, etc., in an oxygen- containing atmosphere, such as air, heated at 200-300 deg.C, imparting water (preferably in an amount of 0.1-2.0 times the weight of the obtained flame-resistant fiber bundle) to the flame-resistant fiber bundle and subsequently carbonizing the fiber bundle into the carbon fibers. The density of the fibers is preferably controlled to >=500 filaments/mm, and a plurality of the precursor fiber bundles are preferably allowed to run side by side.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the tensile strength of a carbon fiber containing fine particles for improving the performance of the fiber or imparting additional function to the fiber. CONSTITUTION:The objective carbon fiber contains fine particles exclusively in the inner layer of single fiber. The fine particle-containing carbon fiber has high tensile strength and is hardly producible by conventional process. The fiber has high tensile strength as well as improved performance or imparted additional function by the mixing of fine particles.     Abstract: PURPOSE:To easily obtain a carbon fiber having dense texture and excellent strength, modulus, etc., by infusibilizing a carbon fiber precursor in an oxidizing atmosphere and carbonizing the fiber in an inert atmosphere under pressure.     Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and reliably perform switching operation when it is performed manually or by a machine such as an automatic doffing machine when a strand is wound by providing a groove in the outside surface circumferential direction of a lengthwise directional central part, and forming a shape of a bottom part of the groove into a V shape. SOLUTION: A bobbin has a groove 1 in the outside surface circumferential direction of its lengthwise directional central part, and a shape of a bottom part of the groove 1 is formed into a V shape. When a strand is wound round the bottom, the strand is hitched on the V-shaped groove 1 of the bottom, and gripping force with the bobbin is secured. A position to arrange the groove 1 is set to a part of about (±) 10% of the bobbin total length in the lengthwise direction with the lengthwise directional midpoint of the bobbin as a starting point. Since the groove 1 is arranged in the lengthwise directional central part, an edge angle of the strand at winding time is minimized, and dislocation of yarn from the groove 1 is prevented. Since a shape of a groove bottom part is formed in a V shape, a groove width is reduced in the depth direction, and gripping force increases in the groove deepest part by an improvement in adhesion to the bobbin of single fiber to constitute the strand.
