    Abstract: PURPOSE:To produce a low-molecular brominated epoxy polymer capable of providing a resin excellent in flame retardancy, mechanical strength and heat resistance while reducing formation of a by-product by reacting brominated bisphenol A with epichlorohydrin under a specified condition. CONSTITUTION:Brominated bisphenol A is reacted with excessive epichlorohydrin in the presence of an alkali metal hydroxide as a catalyst and the remaining epichlorohydrin is subsequently removed from the reaction system. The reaction product is then subjected to dehydrochlorination in the presence of an alkali metal hydroxide in an organic solvent such as methyl isobutyl ketone, thus producing the objective low-molecular brominated epoxy polymer.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the above compound useful as a synthetic intermediate of industrial importance inexpensively and in high yield, by reacting a fluorine- containing organic halogen compound with carbon dioxide in the presence of zinc and then reacting the prepared reaction mixture with a halgenated hydrocarbon. CONSTITUTION:A fluorine-containing organic halogen compound shown by formula I (X and X' are each independently F, Cl, Br or I with the proviso that compound wherein X and X' are simultaneously F is omitted; Rf is F- containing aliphatic group and the number of carbons thereof is 1-20 when one of X and X' is F and the number is 3-20 when one of X and X' is not F) is reacted with carbon dioxide in an organic solvent in the presence of zinc alone or an alkali metallic ion or ammonium ion and zinc. Then the reaction mixture is reacted with a compound shown by formula II (R is 1-20C alkyl) to give the aimed compound. An aprotic polar solvent is preferable as a solvent used in the reaction. The formula temperature in the second process is preferably 0-300 deg.C.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To simply and advantageously obtain the titled compound useful as a synthetic intermediate for e.g. medicine, agricultural chemical or monomer for functional high polymer, by reacting 2-perfluoroalkylacrylic acid used as a raw material under acidic conditions in the presence of zinc and a solvent. CONSTITUTION:2-Perfluoroalkylacrylic acid expressed by formula I (Rf is 1-20C perfluoroalkyl) which is used as a raw material is reacted in the presence of zinc in water or solvent containing water (mixed aqueous solution with an organic solvent such as methanol is available) under acidic conditions at -20-100 deg.C, preferably -10-50 deg.C to provide the compound expressed by formula II. An acidic solution is preferably added and used into the above-mentioned aqueous solution or mixed aqueous solution in order to efficiently give the aimed compound and a mineral acid is preferably used as the added acidic solution. The added acid is preferably used at an amount in the range of 0.2-40 time equivalent based on the compound expressed by formula I.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To industrially and advantageously obtain the titled compound useful as a special surfactant and water and oil repellent, by reacting a fluorine- containing aliphatic mono- or dihalogen compound with carbon dioxide using a group VIII transition metal complex as a catalyst and hydrolyzing the resultant product. CONSTITUTION:A fluorine-containing aliphatic mono- or dihalogen compound, e.g. perfluorooctyl iodide, etc., expressed by formula I (X and X' are F, Cl, Br or I, except when X and X' are not F at the same time; Rf is 1-20C fluorine-containing aliphatic group) is reacted with carbon dioxide in an organic solvent, e.g. dimethylformamide, N,N-dimethylacetamide, etc., in the presence of a group VIII transition metal complex, particularly preferably tetrakistriphenylphospinepalladium or bisdiphenylphosphinoethanepalladium and the resultant product is then hydrolyzed to afford the titled compound expressed by formula II (Y and Y' are carboxyl, provided that either one of Y and Y' is F when either one of X and X' is F).
