Abstract: Cationic polymers (I) are used in hair cosmetic formulations. (I) are obtained by: (1) free radical-initiated copolymerization of (a) 60-99 wt.% optionally substituted, optionally quaternized 1-vinylimidazole, (b) 1-40 wt.% acid or salt containing a polymerizable double bond and (c) 0-30 wt.% other comonomer and (2) quaternization if an unquaternized 1-vinylimidazole is used. An Independent claim is also included for shampoo formulations containing 0.01-5 wt.% (I).

Abstract: An adhesive for dental prostheses comprises: (A) an active component containing an at least partially neutralised copolymer of (i) 5-95 wt.% acrylic ester of formula CH2:CR -COOR where R = H or Me and R = 1-30C alkyl and (ii) 95-5 wt.% (meth)acrylic acid; and (B) a conventional carrier. Claimed production is by mixing dry (A) with (B) and optionally powdering the mixture. Preferably the copolymer (A) (mol. wt. 30,000-5 million) is water-soluble and is a single or mixed salt of Na, K, Ca, Mg, Sr or Zn with 30-95% of the free carboxylic acid groups neutralised, an especially preferred copolymer comprising 20-80 wt.% Me methacrylate or Et acrylate and 80-20 wt.% (meth)acrylic acid. The copolymer (A) can also contain as further comonomer an acrylamide, methacrylamide, N-vinyl lactam, hydroxyalkylacrylic ester, crotonic acid and/or maleic acid and can also be used as a mixture with a known adhesive such as a partial salt of an alkyl vinyl ether/maleic acid copolymer, CMC (or a salt), polyvinyl pyrrolidone, a vinyl pyrrolidone/vinyl acetate copolymer, an alginate and/or polyethylene glycol.

Abstract: The present invention relates to the use of water-soluble copolymers consisting of such characteristic structural elements as a) acrylic acid amide of the general formula (I), where R et R stand, independently of each other, for H, alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or aralkyl, and b) units of the general formula (II), where A represents a chemical bond or an alkyl group, the R residues stand, independently of each other, for H, alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or arakyl or, together with the nitrogen atom to which they are linked, an aromatic or non aromatic five to seven member heterocyclic ring, possibly mono- or polysubstituted, possibly containing one or two more heteroatoms chosen from among O, N or S, and capable of being annelated with another aromatic or non aromatic five to seven member ring, and R represents H, alkyl or aralkyl. The invention also pertains to cosmetics containing said polymers.
