Abstract:
A link extends between a distal member and a proximal member of a wearable device, such as an exoskeleton, orthosis or prosthesis for a human lower limb. One or other of the distal member and the proximal member includes a crossing member. The link extends from the crossing member of the distal member or the proximal member, to the other of the distal member or the proximal member. Actuation of the link translates to a force at the distal or proximal member that is normal to a major longitudinal axis extending through the distal and proximal members. In one embodiment, a sliding link of a device configured for use with a human joint tracks two degrees of freedom of the joint.
Abstract:
An assisting torque setting apparatus and method, wherein the apparatus is configured to generate a reference gait model by applying body information of a user to a predetermined body model, and set an optimal assisting torque by adjusting an assisting torque provided from a walking assistance apparatus to the user based on the reference gait model is disclosed.
Abstract:
Driving modules, motion assistance apparatuses including at least one of the driving modules, and methods of controlling at least one of the motion assistance apparatuses may be provided. For example, a driving module including a driving source on one side of a user and configured to transmit power, an input side rotary body coupled to the driving source and configured to rotate, first and second decelerators configured to operate using the power respectively received from the driving source through the input side rotary body, and a first stopper and a second stopper configured to selectively enable or disable a transmission of the power between the input side rotary body and respective output terminals of the first and second decelerators may be provided.
Abstract:
A manipulator (110) for e.g. gait training is constructed from an Evans mechanism with an additional degree of freedom to provide a two dimensional workspace.
Abstract:
An exoskeleton is disclosed. The exoskeleton can include support members rotatably coupled together about a joint. The joint can define a degree of freedom, which can correspond to a degree of freedom of a human extremity, such as hip medial/lateral rotation, ankle medial/lateral rotation, shoulder medial/lateral rotation, or wrist pronation/supination rotation. One or more parasagittal planes through the human extremity can intersect the joint to minimize a gravity-induced moment on the first joint during operation of the exoskeleton.
Abstract:
A holder may be more easily mounted on a user's body by applying tension to a cable. An inner side surface of the holder with which the user's body comes in contact transmits uniform pressure to the user's body such that the holder may be more comfortable to the user.
