Abstract:
Devices, systems and methods are described which control blood pressure and nervous system activity by stimulating baroreceptors. By selectively and controllably activating baroreceptors and/or nerves, the present invention reduces blood pressure and alters the sympathetic nervous system; thereby minimizing deleterious effects on the heart, vasculature and other organs and tissues. A baroreceptor activation device or other sensory activation device is positioned near a dermal bone to provide the treatment.
Abstract:
Devices and systems are provided for treating migraine headaches and other conditions by non-invasive electrical stimulation of nerves and other tissue. A hand-held device includes a housing with a controller having a signal generator, an electrode for delivering electrical signals, and a conductive surface configured as a return path for the electrical signals. In certain implementations, the electrode is repositionable with respect to the housing. The patient can self-apply the hand-held device by pressing it against areas in need of pain relief. The device may include a pressure - sensitive gating switch to control delivery of the stimulation therapy. In certain embodiments, the electrode is a rollerball electrode. The device may include a chamber for retaining and dispensing conductive gel to the therapy site.
Abstract:
The present device relates to a cosmetics container having a vibration means. According to the present device, since a switch for operating the vibration means is provided on an upper portion of a housing, a massage part is pressed to push the switch so that the vibration means is turned on. Also, when the pressing of the massage part is released so that the switch returns, the vibration means is turned off. Thus, the vibration means may be turned on or off using the massage part without a user having to separately manipulate the switch.
Abstract:
A modular stimulus applicator system and method are disclosed. The system includes a plurality of wirelessly controlled stimulus pods, anchored to a patient's body, and configured to deliver stimulus to the patient's body. The stimulus can be heat, vibration, or electrical stimulus, or any combination thereof. The stimulus pods are controlled by a control station that can include a user-interface through which the patient can control application of the stimulus.
Abstract:
A system and method by which movements desired by a user (200) of a lower extremity orthotic (100) is determined and a control system (215, 216, 220, 225, 230) automatically regulates the sequential operation of powered lower extremity orthotic components (212) to enable the user (200), having mobility disorders, to walk, as well as perform other common mobility tasks which involve leg movements, perhaps with the use of a gait aid (102).
Abstract:
Provided are a system and method for controlling a device through changes in a pressure of a deformable chamber such as may be controlled by a user through a user's hand and/or body. In one example, a device with a deformable chamber detects pressure level changes from a baseline and modifies output parameters including modifications on the playback of stored patterns. In another example, a massage device with a deformable chamber records the most recent pressure level changes in a sequence, interprets the pressure level sequence as a sequence of power levels to a vibratory motor, and repeats back the interpretation until a further pressure input is received above a baseline. In another example, the massage device interprets the currently input sequence of pressure levels in real-time into a sequence of power levels delivered to the vibratory motor.

Abstract:
A control system for controlling an exoskeleton worn by a user and having one or more actuators associated with various body members of the exoskeleton each corresponding to a body part of the user. The control system comprises a user interface for receiving input data indicative of a desired movement sequence, a memory component for storing pre-programmed movement data indicative of one or more sequential instructions required to effect the movement sequence, each instruction being associated with relative actuator movements for performing the instruction, and an actuator controller for moving the one or more actuators according to the relative actuator movements for each instruction. The control system also comprises a terrain sub-system for adjusting the actuator movements upon detection of a change in terrain slope and a balance control sub-system for periodically adjusting the balance of the exoskeleton during relative movement of the one or more actuators.
