Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide techniques for improving manufacturing system and method of a component in reliability and precision (with little curl or subsequent distortion) in the case of forming a three-dimensional object of stacked layers by applying stereo-lithographic mechanism. SOLUTION: Data manipulation techniques, based on layer comparisons, are used to control exposure in order to delay solidification of the material on at least portions of at least some cross-sections until upper layers of material are deposited so as to allow down-facing surface of the object to be located at a depth in the building material which is equal to or exceeds a minimum cure depth that can effectively be used for solidifying these features. Similar data manipulations are used to ensure that a minimum reliable coating thickness exists, above previously solidified material, before attempting solidification of a next layer. Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a easily mountable solid state laser illumination system for stereolithography with which the optimization of characteristics is easily controlled. SOLUTION: The illumination system is provided with the optical system capable of adjusting the size of a light beam and adjusting the focus of the light beam. A spot size control optical system adjusts the overall size of the light beam and separately adjusts the ellipticity of the beam, primarily in one dimension. Light from the spot size control optical system passes to a focus control optical system that controls the overall focus of the light beam and adjusts the astigmatism of the beam by altering the focal position of the light beam in one dimension. The laser system, the spot size control optical system and the focus control optical system are within an enclosure. Actuators under remote control from outside of the enclosure adjust both of the spot size control optical system and the focus control optical system in the thermal environment of the illumination system.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for measuring the overall intensity and power of a beam by measuring the intensity profile of the beam, with regard to an optical three-dimensional shaping process. SOLUTION: In a sensor for beam profile measurement equipped with a pinhole plate and an optical detector arranged behind the former, a beam spot is transferred and consequently, the sensor for beam profile measurement measures an intensity which is respectively covered by some of different regions inside the beam spot. Software interrelated with the sensor for beam profile measurement controls a beam scan mechanism in a computer to transfer the beam spot onto a pinhole. Further, the software controls the mechanism to make the beam spot traverse over the pinhole and thus the intensity profile of the beam is obtained. A related device and a related method for the calibration and standardization of a three-dimensional shaping device are disclosed. In addition, a related device and a related method for correcting a positional deviation over time in the process of shaping a three-dimensional object are revealed.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To disclose an apparatus and a method for stereoscopic molding particularly useful in molding of a large-sized or a complicate component by accelerating the molding speed without lowering a molding accuracy of the component. SOLUTION: A laser stronger than that of a prior art and a dynamic mirror driven at a faster speed than that of the prior art are used. An optical path of a laser beam is selectively shut off by a controllable shutter disposed on the path of the beam to prevent undesired curing of a material. Further, a suitable servo control feedback loop is provided. Thus, the mirror can be accurately directed at a faster speed than a typical speed. Additionally, a method for reducing a flow of data by suitably distributing a plurality of processors to tasks, and a method for improving interactiveness with a user by utilizing spread sheets are disclosed. These methods contribute to improvement in the molding speed of the component and is particularly useful method in molding of the large-sized or composite component.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a vector exposure efficiency in a system by changing an amount of a predetermined curing stimulus in a beam of a selected dimension in the case of exposing a material according to a first vector set and a second vector set. SOLUTION: A controllable beam source for generating a predetermined curing stimulus beam is installed. As a preparing step for forming a next curing layer of a molding article, a new material layer brought into contact with a material layer formed immediately before is formed. Then, a curing material is exposed with the predetermined beam according to vector data representing the next curing layer of the article, and the next curing layer is formed. The operation of forming the curing layer and the exposing operation are repeated many times, and an article made of a plurality of the curing layers brought into close contact with each other is molded. Then, the predetermined curing stimulus beam source is controlled, a strength of the stimulus aimed by the beam of the selected dimension is changed between when the curing material is exposed in response to a first set of the vector set and when conducting according to a second set of the vector set.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To rapidly form a three-dimensional object by separating primary layers through a secondary layer, forming a primary cured layer corresponding to a primary layer, selectively exposing the primary layer for forming a secondary cured layer, and selectively exposing the secondary layer for forming a secondary cured layer corresponding to the secondary layer. SOLUTION: One set of S pieces of layers is provided, and a plurality of coating parameters capable of being designated for M pieces of groups of the layers are provided. The first group of the layers is a group containing primary layers, and the second group of the layers is a group containing N pieces of secondary layers. The primary layer is provided at each five layers. On the secondary layer, only a profile, an upward surface area and a downward surface area are formed. On the primary layer, a profile, an upward surface area, a downward surface area and a connected surface area are formed by sufficient exposure to cure a plurality of the previously formed secondary layers and to bring the secondary layer into close contact with the cured layer formed in the case that the primary layer is disposed on a surface of the material. Thus, a large quantity of time can be saved.

A next layer is formed on the layer of the object 15 of a material 15 by the pair of the mirrors 82 while altering the data by manipulating the data. Thus, forming the layer of the object 15 and exposing to the stimulation are repeated, and the object 15 is formed of a plurality of layers bonded to each other.
