A moderately high pressure, sliding vane pump is fabricated from low modulus plastic by routing high pressure fluid away from the central pump perimeter and into a bearing gland chamber for discharge porting. Port fittings are push socket connections that are sealed by O-rings and held in place against fluid pressure ejection by a saddle plate that cross-pins to the port boss.

A method and apparatus for laser engraving a three-dimensional pattern on a surface. A moveable laser head having a plurality of laser beams is provided. Preferably, the number of laser beams is four. Each beam is capable of being individually adjustably controllable.

A method of forming a dome from a substantially round blank having a surface area smaller than the surface area of the dome includes the steps of shear forming the blank (30) on a rotatable flat-nosed conical mandrel (31) to form a deformed blank (35), spin stretching the deformed blank in selected areas along its circumference to form a stretched blank (40), inside spinning the stretched blank into a rough dome (42) within a concave dome mandrel (41), and finish spinning the rough dome on a rotatable convex dome mandrel (51) into the finished dome (53). Predetermined portions of the blank are heated in each forming step.

A liquid level sensor apparatus and a method of using thereof for determining the level of a conductive liquid held within a container, wherein the container is subject to the accumulation of residue as a consequence of the conductive liquid contained therein. The liquid level sensor includes a sensor part which has a voltage; a ground connection having an electrical polarity; a circumferential ring having a bias voltage opposite in polarity to the ground connection and a voltage corresponding to that of the sensor attached around the sensor; a float which is buoyant on the conductive liquid; and a conductive tip attached to the top of the float, the conductive tip being conductive with the sensor end when in at least one predetermined position.

A side-mountable liquid level sensor (10) utilizes a rubber sealing grommet (120) to temporarily hold the buoyant member (80) within the cylinder (132) of the liquid container (7) opening (3) to facilitate assembly. The buoyant member (80) has an open slot (84) with cooperating limit structure (54,56,100,102) on the buoyant member (80) and sensor rod (14) to facilitate manufacture.
