Abstract:
One aspect of the present invention provides fermented smilax china leaves, which are products obtained by fermenting smilax china leaves with microorganisms of Aspergillus species. In addition, another aspect of the present invention provides extract of fermented smilax china leaves extracted from the fermented smilax china leaves, which are products obtained by fermenting smilax china leaves with microorganisms of Aspergillus species. The fermented smilax china leaves according to the present invention displays enhanced inhibition activities of xanthine oxidase or aldehyde oxidase by being fermented with Aspergillus species. In addition, the fermented smilax china leaves according to the present invention displays enhanced organoleptic properties before fermentation. Therefore, fermented tea or functional food manufactured by the fermented smilax china leaves according to the present invention have the advantages of having excellent commercial quality and maintain or improve a user′s health. Moreover, the fermented smilax china leaves or its fraction according to the present invention are highly advantageous as material for medicine and medical supplies or functional food to prevent, improve or treat gout, liver damage, obesity, hyperlipidemia, fatty liver and the likes. Abstract:
The present invention relates to a food composition containing a water-convolvulus extract for the excretion of heavy metals and the control of oxidative damage by the heavy metals. The heavy metal removal and oxidative damage control functions of the water-convolvulus extract has been confirmed by the present invention, therefore the water-convolvulus extract can be used as a food composition for the removal of the heavy metals and the control of the oxidative damage by the heavy metals.
