    Abstract: Azulene squaric acid dyes containing ester groups, of the formula in which L denotes C1-C12-alkylene which is optionally substituted by phenyl, R denotes C1-C12-alkyl, mono- or polyunsaturated C1-C12-alkenyl, which can be substituted by phenyl, C5-C7-cycloalkyl, C5-C7-cycloalkenyl, optionally substituted phenyl, pyrrolyl, furanyl, thienyl or pyridyl and R , R , R and R independently of one another denote hydrogen or optionally substituted C1-C12-alkyl, with the proviso that if R denotes hydrogen, the ring positions of the substituents CH2-L-O-CO-R and R on one or both azulene rings can also be interchanged with one another within an azulene ring, their intermediates and an optical recording medium which contains the novel dyes.

    Abstract: Partly crosslinked plastic materials with MFI 230/21.6 of 0.1-100 g/10 mins. (I) consist of (a) a polymer and (b) a bis-maleimide cpd. of formula (II). (I) are obtd. by reacting (a) with (b) at 180-280 deg.C and 1-100 bar with mean residence time of 0.2-10 mins. (a) comprises (a1) a polymer of 25-97 wt.% propylene copolymer with 0.1-15 wt.% 2-10C alkene units (A) and 3-75 wt.% other propylene copolymer with 15-80 wt.% 2-10C alkene units (B) or (a2) a polymer of 25-97 wt.% propylene homopolymer (C) and 3-75 wt.% (B) or (a3) a statistical copolymer of propylene with less than 15 wt.% 2-10C alkene units, or (a4) propylene homopolymer with MFI of 0.01-100 g/10 mins. In (II), R is 1-20C alkylene (opt. with in-chain O), 5-7C cycloalkylene or 6-15C arylene (both opt. substd. with 1-10C alkyl, 1-6C alkoxy and/or 1-4C dialkylamino gp(s). or a gp. of formula -R1-Z-R2- (with R1, R2 = 1-10C alkyleme, 5-7C cycloalkylene or 6-10C arylene (opt. substd. as for R), Z = 1-10C alkylene, 1-4C dialkylamino, O or SO2).

    Abstract: Partially crosslinked polymer composition containing a) a polymer comprising from 25 to 95% by weight of polypropylene and from 5 to 75% by weight of a propylene copolymer containing copolymerized C2-C10-alk-1-enes, where the comonomer content is from 1 to 45% by weight, based on the total polymer, b) a random ethylene copolymer containing from 5 to 20% by weight of copolymerized C3-C10-alk-1-enes and having a density at room temperature of from 0.89 to 0.925 g/cm and c) an organosilane compound of the formula (I> A4-n-SiRn (I> in which the A radicals are identical or different and are acrylates or methacrylates or vinyl groups, the R radicals are identical or different and are C1-C8-alkoxy or C1-C8-acetoxy groups, and n is the number 1, 2 or 3, obtainable by reacting a polymer mixture of the polymer a) and the random ethylene copolymer b) with the organosilane compound c) in the presence of a free-radical initiator and in the presence of a condensation catalyst, at temperatures of from 180 to 280 DEG C, pressures of from 1 to 100 bar and mean residence times of the reaction mixture of from 0.2 to 10 minutes.

    Abstract: A partially crosslinked polymer composition having a melt flow index of from 0.1 to 50 g/10 min at 230 DEG C. under a weight of 2.16 kg and comprising a) a polymer comprising from 25 to 95% by weight of polypropylene and 5 to 75% by weight of a propylene copolymer with copolymerized C2-C10-alk-1-enes, the comonomer content being from 1 to 45% by weight, based on the total polymer, b) an organosilane compound of the formula (I) A4-nSiRn(i) where A are identical or different acrylates or methacrylates or vinyl groups, R are identical or different C1-C8-alkoxy or C1-C8-acetoxy groups, and n is 1, 2 or 3, obtainable by reacting the polymer a) with the organosilane compound b) in the presence of a free-radical initiator and in the presence of a condensation catalyst at from 180 DEG to 280 DEG C., and at from 1 to 100 bar and at a mean residence time of the reaction mixture of from 0.2 to 10 minutes, has, in particular, high notched impact strength, increased puncture resistance and improved weld line strength.
