Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing by fermentation at least one type of organic compound containing at least 3 C atoms or at least two C ato ms and at least one N atom consisting a1) in grinding a starch source for obtaining a ground product containing at least one part of solid starch-devo id components of the starch source, 2a) in suspending the ground material in an aqueous fluid and in hydrolysing by enzimatically liquefying the starch part of the starch source and eventually metabolisable metabolisable subsequently saccharifying, thereby obtaining a first mono- and oligosaccharide-containin g liquid (1), b) in adding, under fermentation conditions, the mono- and oligosaccharide-containing liquid (1) together with monosaccharides, disaccharides and/or metabolisable oligosaccharides or with a monosaccharide s, disaccharides and/or metabolisable oligosaccharides-containing composition a t a concentration less than 50 % by weight which is practically devoid of wate r insoluble solids, to a fermentation medium containing a micro organism which enables an organic compound to be overproduced.

Abstract: The present invention relates to novel phytase-comprising enzyme granules, the particles of which have a weight-average particle size in the range from 300 to 800 mum and the specific phytase activity of which, expressed in FTU/g, is at least 13 000 and does not exceed a value of FTUmax=6000[FTU g-1].D-3.mm3, D being the weight-average particle diameter of the granule particles in mm. The invention further relates to phytase-comprising enzyme granules for feeds, the particles of which have a weight-average particle size in the range from 300 to 800 mum and the specific phytase activity of which, expressed in FTU/g, is at least 7000, and does not exceed a value of FTUmax=2000[FTU g-1].D-3.mm3, D being the weight-average particle diameter of the granule particles in mm. The invention also relates to the use of the phytase-comprising enzyme granules in feed compositions and, in particular, pelleted feed compositions, which are obtainable using the phytase-comprising enzyme granules.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for the production of at least one nonvolatile microbial metabolite in solid form by sugar-based microbial fermentation, in which process a microorganism strain which produces the desired metabolites is grown using a sugar-containing liquid medium with a monosaccharide content of more than 20% by weight based on the total weight of the liquid medium, and the volatile constituents of the fermentation liquor are subsequently largely removed, the sugar-containing liquid medium being prepared by: a1) milling selected starch feedstock from cereal grains; and a2) liquefying the millbase in an aqueous liquid in the presence of at least one starch-liquefying enzyme, followed by saccharification using at least one saccharifying enzyme, where, for liquefaction purposes, at least a portion of the millbase is liquefied by continuous or batchwise addition to the aqueous liquid. Furthermore, the invention relates to a solid formulation, of a nonvolatile microbial metabolite, obtainable by the method according to the invention; and to the use of such a solid formulation as additive or supplement for human or animal nutrition or for the treatment of textiles, leather, cellulose, paper or surfaces.
