Abstract: Dyes of the formula (I) where F is an (m+n)-valent radical of a quinophthalone, dioxazine, indigo, quinacridone, triphenylmethane or rhodamine dye, M(+) is H(+) or one equivalent of a metal cation, m is 0, 1 or 2 and n is 1, 2, 3 or 4, and their salts, are very useful for dyeing and printing paper. If they are used for wet-end dyeing, the waste water is virtually colorless. The colorations obtained exhibit good lightfastness and good bleeding fastness.

Abstract: Dyes of the formula (I) where R1 is hydrogen, Cl-C6-alkyl or C2-C6-alkenyl, R2 and R3 independently of one another are hydrogen, C1-C5-alkyl or C2-C5-alkenyl, R4 is C1-C12-alkyl or hydroxy-C2-C4-alkyl, X? is one equivalent of an anion, m is from O to 5 and n is from O to 5, with l ?(m+n)? 5, and F is an(m+n)-valent radical of a monoazo dye, a disazo dye, a polyazo dye, a quinophthalone, a bis-dioxazine, a compound of the 5,6-arylo-2-pyrone series, a naphtholactam dye, a triphenylmethane dye, a xanthene dye, a phthalocyanine, an indigoid, an anthraquinone dye containing one or more phenyl or naphthyl groups, a more highly fused carbonylcontaining dye, a quinacridone, a perylene-3,4,9,10-tetracarboxylic acid diimide, an anthrapyrimidine, a pyrazoloanthrone, a diaminonaphthoquinone, a naphthazar ine or a naphthalene-1,4,5,8-tetracarboxylic acid diimide The dyes give brilliant wet-fast colorations on cellulose containing fiber material, especially on paper. When used for wet end coloring of paper, the waste water is virtually or completely colorless.

Abstract: Imidazolylmethyl-substd. dyes of formula (I) are new. In (I) R1 is H, 1-6C alkyl or 2-6C alkenyl; R2 and R3 are H, 1-5C alkyl or 2-5C alkenyl; R4 is 1-12C alkyl or 2-4C hydroxyalkyl; X is an equiv. of an anion; D is a (m+n)-valent residue of a mono-, dis- or polyazo dye, a quinophthalone, a bisdioxazine, a 5-6-arylo-2-pyrone cpd., a naphtholactam, triphenylmethane or xanthene dye, a phthalocyanine, an indigoid, an anthraquinone dye contg. at least one phenyl or naphtyl gp., a higher fused- ring carbonyl dye, a quinacridone, a perylene-3,4,9,10-tetra- carboxylic diimide, an anthra-pyrimidine, a pyrazolo- anthrone, a diamino-naphthoquinone, a naphthazarin or a naphthalene-1,4,5,8-tetra-carboxylic diimide; m is 0-5; n is 0-5; m+n is 1-5). (I) are useful as cationic dyes for cellulosic fibre materials, esp. for prodn. of coloured paper with good wet fastness. Dyeing with high tinctorial strength are obtd., and waste waters are practically colourless. Paper coloured with (I) where D is a phthalocyanine residue can be decolorised with chlorine bleaches, thus facilitating waste paper processing.
