    Abstract: Nanoscale, pyrogenically produced zinc oxide having a BET surface area of 10 to 200 m2/g, which is in the form of aggregates of anisotropic primary particles and whereby the aggregates display an average diameter of 50 to 300 nm. It is obtained from zinc powder, which is converted to zinc oxide powder in the four successive reaction zones, evaporation zone, nucleation zone, oxidation zone and quench zone. It can be used in sunscreen formulations.

    Abstract: A dispersion of pyrogenically produced cerium oxide, which does not contain any particles larger than 1 mum, is produced by dispersing a pyrogenically produced cerium oxide in water by means of a dissolver, centrifuging it, separating the supernatant from the bottom product, and again dispersing the supernatant by means of ultrasound. The dispersion can be used for chemical-mechanical polishing (CMP).

    Abstract: Indium-tin oxide (I) is claimed, with physical-chemical parameters comprising average particle size 1-200 nm (tunneling electron microscope); BET surface area 0.1-300 m /g (DIN 66131); structure (x-ray diffraction) cubic indium oxide, tetragonal tin oxide; mesopores 0.03-0.30 ml/g (BJH method to DIN 66134); macropores 1.5-5.0 ml/g (DIN 66133); and bulk density 50-2000 g/l (DIN-ISO 787/XI). An Independent claim is also included for the preparation of (I) by mixing a solution of an indium salt with a solution of a tin salt, adding a solution of a salt of doping component(s) if necessary, atomizing the mixed solution, pyrolyzing and separating the product from the waste gases.

    Abstract: Preparation of zinc oxide powder comprises producing a flow containing zinc steam in a vaporization zone; oxidizing the zinc steam by reacting with an oxygen-containing gas under the formation of zinc oxide powder in an oxidation zone; cooling the reaction mixture by means of water or an inert gas; and separating the zinc oxide powder in a cooling/isolation zone. Preparation of zinc oxide powder comprises producing a flow containing zinc steam in a vaporization zone; oxidizing the zinc steam by reacting with an oxygen-containing gas under the formation of zinc oxide powder in an oxidation zone; cooling the reaction mixture by means of water or an inert gas; and separating the zinc oxide powder in a cooling/isolation zone, where in the vaporization zone, a gas flow from an inert gas and a gaseous fuel is introduced through a zinc melt exhibiting 750-850[deg]C, under the formation of zinc steam, where the portion of gaseous fuel is 1-50 vol.%, based on the sum of the inert gas and the gaseous fuel and the molar quotient of zinc steam to gaseous fuel is 0.01-50; and in the oxidation zone, a second gas flow comprising an oxygen-containing gas and water vapor is added in such a quantity to the gas flow from zinc steam, gaseous fuel and inert gas such that the temperature in the oxidation zone is 500-1100[deg]C, where the concentration of oxygen is at least sufficient to convert the whole of the gaseous fuel from the vaporization zone and zinc steam, and the water vapor is produced by the reaction of a gaseous fuel with the oxygen containing gas, which is introduced into the oxidation zone.
