Abstract: The invention relates to a complete method for producing pure silicon that is suitable for use as solar-grade silicon, comprising the reduction of a silicon oxide, purified by acidic precipitation from an aqueous solution of a silicon oxide dissolved in an aqueous phase, using one or more pure carbon sources, the purified silicon oxide being obtained, in particular, by the precipitation of a silicon oxide dissolved in an aqueous phase in an acidifier. The invention also relates to a formulation containing an activator and to a device for producing silicon, a reactor and electrodes.

Abstract: The invention relates to a complete method for producing pure silicon that is suitable for use as solar-grade silicon, comprising the reduction of a purified silicon oxide using one or more pure carbon sources, the purified silicon oxide, which was purified as silicon oxide dissolved in an aqueous phase, having a content of other polyvalent metals or metal oxides, in relation to the silicon oxide, of less than or equal to 300 ppm, preferably less than 100 ppm, especially preferably less than 50 ppm and according to the invention less than 10 ppm of the other metals and being obtained advantageously by gel formation in alkaline conditions. The invention also relates to a formulation containing an activator and to the use of purified silicon oxide together with an activator for producing silicon.

Abstract: New precipitated silica has a BET surface of 120-300 m /g, a CTAB surface of 100-300 m /g, a BET/CTAB ratio of 0.8-1.3, a Sears number (0.1N-sodium hydroxide required) of 6-25 ml, a DBP number of 150-300 g/100 g, a WK coefficient of less than 3.4 and particle sizes of less than 1.0 and 1.0-100 microns for degraded and undegradable particles respectively. Independent claims are also included for (a) a process for the production of this precipitated silica by reacting alkali silicate (preferably sodium waterglass) with mineral acid (preferably sulphuric acid) at 60-95 degrees C and pH 7.0-11.0 with continuous stirring, continuing reaction to a solid content of 40-100 g/l, adjusting to pH 3-5, filtering off the silica, washing, drying and possibly milling or granulating, (b) vulcanisable rubber mixtures and vulcanised rubber containing this silica as a filler.

Abstract: A zeolite catalyst and a method for reduction of nitrogen oxides present in waste gas streams is described. The method includes mixing the waste gas containing nitrogen oxides with ammonia. At an elevated temperature, this mixture is passed over a zeolite catalyst. Preferably, the zeolite catalyst is in a monolithic or honeycomb form. The zeolite catalyst includes one or more of the following subgroup metals: copper, iron, molybdeum and cerium. The zeolite catalysts made in accordance with this invention show better conversion of nitrogen oxides and longer life than known catalysts.

Abstract: Procedimiento para la producción de dióxido de silicio altamente puro, que comprende los siguientes pasos de proceso citados a continuación a) producción de un depósito constituido por un agente de acidificación o un agente de acidificación y agua con un valor de pH menor que 2, b) puesta a disposición de una disolución de silicato con una viscosidad de 0,1 a 10000 Poise, c) adición de la disolución de silicato del paso b) en el depósito del paso a), de modo que el valor de pH de la suspensión de precipitación obtenida permanece en un valor menor que 2, d) separación y lavado del dióxido de silicio obtenido, presentando el medio de lavado un valor de pH menor que 2, e) lavado en medio neutro de dióxido de silicio con agua completamente desalinizada (agua VE), f) secado del dióxido de silicio obtenido, con la condición de que al menos un intercambiador de iones fosfonato se ponga en contacto con la fase líquida de la suspensión de precipitación en el ámbito del paso de proceso c), o con el medio de lavado en el ámbito del paso de proceso d), o con ambos, para el intercambio iónico.
