Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide silica which possesses particularly good sorption characteristics for polar compounds because silica is frequently used as a carrier material for polar compounds such as choline chloride, propionic acid or formic acid. SOLUTION: Precipitated silica or a silicate can be obtained by acid precipitation of an aqueous silicate solution while maintaining a constant alkali number of at least 15-60. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide silicic acid having excellent absorption behavior especially for a polar compound, since the silicic acid is used as a supporting material for the polar compound such as choline choloride, propionic acid and formic acid. SOLUTION: Precipitated silicic acid or silicate is obtained by precipitation from a silicate aqueous solution with an acid under at least one fixed alkalinity.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a precipitated silica having improved DBP absorption. SOLUTION: This precipitated silica has a pH value of 3 to 8, a BET surface area of 400 to 600 m /g, a DBP absorption of 380 to 420 g/100 g, a bulk density of 100 to 200 g/L and a residue on ALPINE sieve with >63 μm size of 0.1 to 40%, and the method for producing the precipitated silica comprises the steps of (a) adding water and sulfuric acid simultaneously within at least 100 minutes to an aqueous material heated at 35 to 45 deg.C under shear by agitation maintaining the pH value of 6 to 7, wherein the addition is intermitted for 60 to 120 minutes, and the solid concentration is adjusted to 36 to 42 g/L upon completion of the addition, (b) filtering the solid and washing the filtered cake, and (c) drying the solid in a short time.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To exhibit improved matte finish effect in the case that a matting agent has the same silicic acid content ratio by mass as the conventional one. SOLUTION: The precipitated silicic acid is controlled to have 350-550 m 2 /g BET, 320-400 g/100g DBP number, 5-15 μm d 50 and 20--90 g/L tapping density. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare the subject silicic acid capable of satisfying requirements for a medicine concerning compatibility, rheology characteristics, sensory irritation and the like, capable of fixing an active material in an oral cavity and allowing the active material to be controllably released, and useful as an oral hygienic good such as a toothpaste by allowing the active material to be carried. SOLUTION: This precipitated silicic acid containing an active material can carry out the sustained lease of the active material [e.g. a fluoride ion-containing material such as an alkali (alkaline earth) metal fluoride and fluoroapatite], and is prepared, for example, by previously inserting water and the active material in a precipitation vessel, heating the obtained mixture at 50-100 deg.C, adding (Z) a sodium silicate solution to the heated mixture while keeping the temperature to regulate the pH or the alkali metal content of the mixture, further adding the component Z and sulfuric acid while keeping the pH or the content of the alkali metal constant, further adding the sulfuric acid to acidify the obtained mixture so as to have pH 7, optionally carrying out an after-stirring of the resultant mixture, filtering and washing the resultant mixture, redispersing the obtained filtration cake, drying the redispersed filtration cake by a spray drier, and pulverizing the obtained dried silicic acid granule.
Abstract:
Precipitated silica having a BET surface area of 10-130 m /g, a CTAB surface area of 10-70 m /g, a mean particle diameter of 5-20 mu m, a Cu abrasion in 10% strength glycerol (glycerine) dispersion of 4-50 mg and a thickening behaviour in CMC solution (20% strength dispersion) of 300-3500 mPa.s is prepared by simultaneously adding alkali metal silicate (weight ratio SiO2: alkali metal oxide = 2.5-3.9:1) and a mineral acid to an initial charge of water which has been adjusted to a pH of from 7.0 to 9.9 or from 10.0 to 10.7 by addition of water, keeping the pH constant between 7.0 and 9.9 or 10.0 and 10.7, with the initial precipitation temperature being 50-90 DEG C and a viscosity increase commencing at the latest after 25% of the precipitation time, setting the pH to /= 160 g/l to 240 g/l, separating off the solid by filtration and washing, drying and milling it. The precipitated silica can be used as abrasive and/or thickening component in toothpastes.

Abstract:
A precipitated silica which contains an active substance having a delayed, release of active substance is prepared by adding the active substance during preparation of the precipitated silica. The precipitated silica may be added to oral hygiene agents such as toothpastes, topical fluoride preparations, dental materials or medicinal chewing gums.
