The polarizing filter of one of the zones is oriented vertically with respect to a usage position of the lens that is utilized in a glass (2), where the vertical zone is situated adjacent to a temporal lateral edge of the lens with respect to the usage position.

Said additional electrode can also form a condenser with a fourth electrode that is added to the system, in order to control a migration of certain electroactive substances responsible for coloring and decoloring the system. The operation of the system can thus be improved.

    Abstract: The invention relates to transparent electrochromic systems (100) which each include one pair of supply electrodes (1, 2) and at least one pair of polarisation electrodes (3, 4). The polarisation electrodes prevent a reaction of mutual neutralisation of the electroactive substances of the systems from causing unnecessary consumption of electric current. Said electrodes also prevent a neutralisation reaction from limiting a lower value of light transmission of the systems. For this purpose, the polarisation electrodes produce an electric field (E) inside the systems, which attracts the electroactive substances that have already reacted with the supply electrodes to different areas.

    Abstract: Un système électroactif transparent comprend deux électrodes (2, 3) juxtaposées sur un même côté d'un volume fermé (12) contenant des substances électroactives. Les deux électrodes sont distantes de moins de 250 µm, et une barrière (1) s'étendant vers l'intérieur du volume fermé est disposée entre les électrodes. La séparation entre les électrodes n'est alors pas visible et une neutralisation mutuelle entre les substances électroactives est inhibée. Avantageusement, les substances électroactives sont contenues dans des cellules (5) séparées les unes des autres à l'intérieur du volume fermé. La barrière (1) peut alors être distinctes de parois (4) de séparation entre les cellules, ou être confondue avec certaines parois intercellulaires.
