    Abstract: Aliphatic perfluoroketones (I) are prepd. by reacting a perfluorocarboxylic acid salt R1-CO2M (II) with a perfluoroacyl fluoride R2-CO-F (III) in a polar aprotic solvent at 20-200 degrees C. In the formulae M is Li, Na, K, Rb, Cs or Ag; R1 is 2-50C perfluoroalkyl opt. contg. ether-O-function(s) R2 is 1-50C perfluoroalkyl opt. contg. ether-O-function(s). (II) may be prepd. from R1COF and a salt of formic or oxalic acid or of a Gp. IIIA to VIIA element oxyacid which is less strong than CF3CO2H, esp. M2CO3. Prepn. is in a polar aprotic solvent at 20-200 degrees C. Alternatively a mixt. of (II) and (III) may be prepd. from (R1CO)2O and an alkali metal fluoride. Perfluorolefins (which are difficult to obtain) are not used. High boiling (I) may be prepd. (I) are inert to acids, oxidants and heat. They may be used as heat transfer media or lubricants. In an example perfluoro-2,4-bis-(3,6-dimethyl-1,4-dioxanyl-2-oxylpentan-3-one was prepd. from potassium perfluoro- alpha-(3,6-dimethyl-1,4-dioxanyl-2-oxylpropionate and the corresp. perfluoroacyl fluoride in tetraglyme.

    Abstract: Prepn. of 2,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropionic acid (I) comprises reacting hexafluoropropene (II) with H2O at 30-200 degrees C in the presence of a tert. amine. The resulting salt is then converted to the free acid. The reaction is pref. effected using a 2-to 5-fold excess of H2O in a polar aprotic solvent. The tert. amine (esp. NEt3 or pyridine) is pref. used in an amt. of >=0.1 mole per mole of (II). The salt is isolated by distilling off volatile components and is converted into the free acid by adding a nonvolatile strong acid (esp. H2SO4). The free acid is then distd. off. (I) is useful as a solvent, an intermediate for polymerisable perfluoroacrylic cpds., and an intermediate for inhalation narcotics. The use of (I) for the prepn. of 2,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropanol is claimed. The process is simpler than those described in US 2795601 and 2862024.

    Abstract: The invention relates to dispersing agents based on a mixture of at least one compound of the formula 1 in which Ar is benzene or naphthalene, X is -CH2-CH2- and/or -CH2-CH(CH3)-, 0 to (m-1) of the radicals A are hydrogen, 1 to m of the radicals A are benzoyl and/or naphthoyl, 1 to m of the radicals A are -CO-CM=CH-COOM and/or -CO-CH2-CH(SO3M)-COOM, M being a cation, R , R and R are hydrogen and/or alkyl having 1 to 14 carbon atoms, R is hydrogen and/or alkyl having 1 to 9 carbon atoms, n is a number from 1 to 150 and m is a number from 2 to 12, with compounds of the formula 2 in which R and R independently of one another are an alkyl group from methyl to butyl and are in the m-position relative to the hydroxyl group, R is hydrogen or methyl and Me is a cation, especially a proton or an alkali metal cation, alkaline earth metal cation or ammonium cation, and x and y are the numbers 0, 1 and 2, the total of these numbers being at least 1. The dispersing agents according to the invention are suitable for preparing dispersions of dyes, pigments, plant protection agents and pesticides and for preparing dyeing baths, padding baths and pastes for paper printing and textile printing.
