    Abstract: The present invention is related to a method and apparatus for implementing space frequency block coding (SFBC) in an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) wireless communication system. The present invention is applicable to both a closed loop mode and an open loop mode. In the closed loop mode, power loading and eigen-beamforming are performed based on channel state information (CSI). A channel coded data stream is multiplexed into two or more data streams. Power loading is performed based on the CSI on each of the multiplexed data streams. SFBC encoding is performed on the data streams for each of the paired subcarriers. Then, eigen-beamforming is performed based on the CSI to distribute eigenbeams to multiple transmit antennas. The power loading may be performed on two or more SFBC encoding blocks or on each eigenmodes. Additionally, the power loading may be performed across subcarriers or subcarrier groups for weak eigenmodes.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for estimating channelization codes in a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) using blind code detection (BCD). A WTRU receives communication bursts and detects a midamble in the received burst. A candidate code list is generated in accordance with the detected midamble. The candidate code list includes channelization codes intended for both the intended WTRU and other WTRUs. Active channelization codes among the codes in the candidate list are identified, and the identified codes are forwarded to a multi-user detector (MUD). Since the orthogonal variable spreading factor code maintains the orthogonality between codes of different SF, SFs of other WTRUs follow the SF of the intended WTRU. Moreover, since the data for other WTRUs is not used in symbol processing after MUD, the performance of MUD for the intended WTRU is preserved with the SF ambiguity of other WTRUs.

    Abstract: Un método para transmitir datos usando codificacion por bloques en espacio y frecuencia (SFBC) de entradas multiples/salidas multiples (MIMO), método que comprende: realizar una codificacion de canal en una corriente de datos de entrada; multiplexar la corriente de datos codificada en el menos dos corrientes de datos; obtener informacion del estado del canal (CSI); clasificar valores propios por sub-portadora; crear haces propios agrupando los mismos valores propios clasificados para todas las sub-portadoras; calcular un valor propio promedio de cada uno de los haces propios; agrupar los haces propios en pares comenzando desde un haz propio con un valor propio promedio más grande de manera que si una relacion senal-ruido (SNR) de un par es mayor que una SNR máxima, un segundo haz propio del par es reemplazado con un haz propio con el siguiente valor propio promedio más bajo siempre y cuando la SNR del par sea mayor que una SNR mínima; determinar una velocidad de datos para cada uno de los haces propios en base a la SNR del par; realizar una codificacion SFBC en las corrientes de datos con un par de haces propios; realizar una formacion de haces propios para distribuir haces propios a una pluralidad de antenas de transmision; y realizar una transformada de Fourier inversa para convertir la corriente de datos en datos en el dominio de tiempo para la transmision. También se divulga un aparato que emplea al método.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a transmitter for transmitting data using multiple-input multiple-output, MIMO, orthogonal frequency division multiplexing, OFDM, the method comprising: a transmitter generating at least one input data stream; the transmitter generating a plurality of spatial streams; the transmitter determining a transmission coding scheme, and processing the input data stream in accordance with the transmission coding scheme to generate at least two spatial streams, the transmission coding scheme being one of spatial multiplexing, SM, without frequency diversity, FD, wherein one data symbol is sent per one sub-carrier for each spatial stream; and the transmitter transmitting the at least two spatial streams via the generated spatial streams.
