    Abstract: The invention provides a lubricating composition comprising: an oil of lubricating viscosity and a reaction product of a monovalent to tetravalent inorganic Lewis acid and a hydroxyl terminated polyether (or glycol), wherein the mole ratio of hydroxyl terminated polyether (or glycol) to Lewis acid is 1:1 or greater. The invention further relates to a method of lubricating a mechanical device (such as an internal combustion engine) with the lubricating composition.
