Abstract: 595423 Disclosed is a mask assembly to supply breathable gas to a patient with adjustable forehead supports for improved comfort and sealing. The mask assembly comprises a mask frame; a cushion provided to the mask frame; and a forehead support. The forehead support comprises a frame connector extending from an upper portion of the mask frame and having an outer housing and an internal ring supported within the outer housing; an actuator disposed on the frame connector; and a forehead cushion support. The forehead cushion support comprises at least one forehead cushion support plate to carry at least one forehead cushion; and a tube having a distal end and a proximal end, the proximal end attached to the at least one forehead cushion support plate, the tube slidably attached to the frame connector along a linear adjustment path defined by the internal ring such that at least the distal end of the tube is enclosed within the housing in an extended position and a retracted position. At least two protrusions and at least two corresponding keyways are configured to prevent the tube from rotating about its longitudinal axis within the ring between the extended position and the retracted position. The actuator adjustably secures the tube to the frame connector along the linear adjustment path. Position markings are provided on the tube to indicate a position of the tube and include artwork formed by pad-printing, etching, laser-etching, and/or in-mold decoration.

Abstract: A cushion assembly for use with a respiratory mask includes a bladder filled with the combination of a gel (740) having a first indentation hardness and a gel (750) having a second indentation hardness. A seal forming structure is formed in one piece with the cushioning structure. The seal forming structure includes a thin membrane flap that is structured to provide a seal to the patient's face. The thin membrane flap includes a free end that is spaced from the cushioning structure in its substantially relaxed, unstressed state and is adapted to be responsive to a difference between mask pressure and ambient pressure to effect a seal with a face region of a patient.
