Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve reliability by gradually increasing the gain of a variable gain amplifying circuit while making a control device into a tracking-off condition, and setting the gain of the variable gain control circuit according to a reference level when a detecting signal is detected by means of a comparing circuit. CONSTITUTION:When a traverse signal St outputted from an amplifier 12 becomes larger than a reference voltage Er added to a comparator 15 at a time point t1, a control part 16 detects a detecting signal SD of a comparator output, and sets the gain of the amplifier 12 at a gain G before the stage of the time point t1. At the time of the gain G, since the reference voltage Er is set so that the optimum tracking error signal may be given to a tracking actuator by the gain, when a tracking circuit is turned on at a time point t2, even when the reflectivity of a loaded optical disk is different, the optimum tracking error signal is always supplied to the tracking actuator, and the stable tracking servo can be executed. Thereafter, the tracking error signal obtains an extremely small value, and information writing and reading can be executed with respect to the optical disk.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To exactly realize negotiation of speed without caring real operating speed ability. SOLUTION: This interface device is provided with a speed negotiation block 12 for selecting the transfer speed (operating speed) of data, speed signal detecting block 3A for detecting whether data received from the outside are speed signals expressing the transfer speed or not and speed signal transmitting block 3B for transmitting the speed signal based on information received from the speed negotiation block 12. When it is detected by the speed signal detecting block 3A that the operating speed higher than an allowable maximum operating speed is selected, each time negotiation is performed once or plural times, the speed negotiation processing block 12 performs negotiation again after decelerating the maximum operating speed for one step.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To detect a segment address and a track address from a sector address by a simple operation or in a simple circuit constitution. CONSTITUTION: The method and an apparatus for detecting a segment address and a track address from a sector address are provided. A control part 4 sequentially compares data of a comparison segment count (HSD) with data of a total segment count while gradually multiplying the data HSD by 1/2. When TSD HSD is held, a bit 1 is set to the track address register 10, and at the same time, data of a new total segment count is formed by an operation TSD-HSD. The above operation is carried out in a loop. The final TSD is detected as a segment address. A value finally stored in the track address register 10 is detected as a track address.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide a stable focusing servo by improving the phase margin in a focusing servo loop. CONSTITUTION: A sample servo type magnetooptical disk 5 is used. Consequently, when servo control is conducted intermittently and focusing servo is performed independently at the time of focus searching or seeking, etc., DSP 47 controls a PWM circuit 45 so as to make the output timing of a focusing servo signal earlier than that at the time when tracking servo is performed together with focusing servo.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To stabilize a track jump by detecting the size of an overshoot and controlling the time width or the size of a track jump voltage so as to diminish the overshoot. CONSTITUTION:At an arbitrary time when, for instance, a power source is supplied or an optical disk 1 is changed to another, a track jump voltage VTJ and a control signal S13 are formed by a forming circuit 23 and supplied to a switch circuit 13. The circuit 13 is switched over to the side of the circuit 23 by this signal S13 during this period. Consequently, the voltage VTJ is supplied to an optical pickup 3. As a result, a track jump of the pickup 3 is implemented by the voltage TTJ. As a result, a track error voltage VER is supplied to a detecting circuit 24 to take out a detecting output V24. Then, an AND output voltage V25 from an AND circuit 25 is supplied to the circuit 23. In the circuit 23, a pulse time width for braking the voltage VTJ at the time of the track jump from the next onward is widened.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To stop the write just prior to becoming a detracking state by monitoring the detracking state of a tracking error signal and the level fluctuation of a focus error signal, which induces a level fluctuation of this tracking error signal, with a defocus detecting means. CONSTITUTION:Both tracking error signal and focus error signal are monitored by a detrack detecting means 10T and a defocus detecting means 10F, and when a signal is outputted to one of these detecting means 10, it is controlled that a recording/erasing mode is cancelled or the optical recording and reproducing device is forcibly changed from its mode to a read mode. Consequently, it is effected that when detracking is incurred during recording or erasing, the laser power can securely be lowered, and an already recorded data is protected, while a data to be recorded is securely be recorded in a prescribed track address.
