Further, traverse data is detected in the first preformat region to effect traverse counting of the recording tracks.

Each of the recording sectors includes a recording region (ARC) for control and a subsequent region (ARD) for writing data. The invention further deals with a disk apparatus using the disk-like recording medium. In the recording region (ARC) for control of the disk-like recording medium are provided a clock data pit (QB), a pair of tracking data pits (QA, QC) positioned inside and outside a track center line (KC) being separated at a predetermined distance from the clock data pit (QB), and a pair of traverse data pits (QD, QE) being separated from each other at a distance allotted depending upon the recording tracks (TK). In recording or reproducing the data using a light beam, the clocks are reliably reproduced under a stable tracking condition, and traverses can be counted.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent the quantity of polarization from being changed by performing a sample servo with servo pit grooves arranged alternately at every prescribed number of tracks on each track of a servo area and a data area arranged radially. CONSTITUTION:A next track TRn+1 is provided in the direction of a disk inner peripheral from an arbitrary track TRn. Pits P1, P2, P3 are formed on the left side of a part of the track TRn. The pit P2 is formed at the center of the track shown by a solide line and pits P1, P3 are formed by being shifted from the center of the track by a quater of a pitch and a groove Gr is formed so that the center of the longitudinal direction of the groove coincides with the center of the track. Moreover, pits P1, P2, P3 are formed on the right side of the one part of the track TRn+1 and the pit P2 is formed at the center of the track and pits P1, P3 are formed by being shifted from the center of the track by a quater of the pitch and the groove is also formed in the same way. Tracks in which positions of pits P1 to P3 and grooves are changed at every track are formed and then the quantity of polarization is prevented from being changed.
