Abstract: A dual mode mobile unit is arranged to communicate in either a first or second data communications standard, such as combined Bluetooth and 802.11 operation. An interface unit converts received Bluetooth or 802.11 format signals into 802.11 frame format data signals to be provided to a digital signal processor which is programmed to process signals in either standard. The dual mode mobile unit can operate in the 802.11 standard to reserve a time interval for Bluetooth activity during which other 802.11 units will avoid transmissions to avoid interference.

Abstract: The location of unmodified wireless assets in a wireless communication network may be identified using time differences of arrivals of a communication sequence at different network receivers. Time-stamping devices may include correlator circuits in parallel with signal decoders to time-stamp communication sequences. Cellular wireless networks may be frequency-multiplexed to increase spatial time-stamping density. Tags may be attached to passive assets to provide location identification information to network devices. Locations of assets broadcasting standard 802.11 radio frequency structures may be identified. Noise inherent in correlating a communication sequence may be reduced by using a selected correlation function.

In addition, the molded member may act to house and to locate both a semiconductor laser and a photodetector, thereby ensuring easy and accurate placement of those elements within the scanning assembly. The optical assembly may be in modular form, mounted onto a common printed circuit board with a beam scanner.

Abstract: "sistema e método para mobilidade vertical automática sem conexão física entre wlans wwans". uma estação móvel (ms) é capaz de mover-se verticalmente em qualquer direção entre duas redes diferentes, isto é wwan e wlan. a ms é equipada com um rádio de modo duplo para transmissões wwan e wlan. o rádio wlan está ligado a um controlador de portão de empreendimento wlan (egc) via uma primeira ligação por ar e o rádio wwan está ligado a uma estação transceptora base wwan (bts) via uma segunda ligação por ar. o egc está conectado a um centro de comutação móvel (msc) que por sua vez está conectado ao bts. uma chamada de voip sendo emitida a partir do rádio wlan para um parceiro remoto na wwan transicionará ou comutará sem conexão física através de uma conexão wwan quando a ms detectar taxas de erro de pacote, retorno de escala freqüente ou degradação de sinal consistente. com tais condições, o rádio wlan solicita a egc para pedir uma transferência de chamada explícita via o msc para a porção de rádio wwan integrada na ms a qual automaticamente aceita a chamada baseado na informação referenciada armazenada no módulo de identificação de assinante (sim) . uma vez que o rádio wwan é confirmado conectado ao parceiro remoto na wwan, o rádio wlan derruba a conexão wlan. uma chamada entrando entre a ms e um usuário remoto via a wwan transicionará para o rádio wlan quando a ms entrar em cobertura wlan. a ms emite um ect para a wlan. após verificação de usuário pelo rádio wlan e os sinais egc de aceitação da chamada, a conexão por rádio wwan é derrubada e a chamada é agora estabelecida entre o rádio wlan e o parceiro remoto na wwan.

Abstract: A system and method for controlling access to a wireless networking system using RFID tags is provided. The security system and method uses RFID tags to determine the location of mobile computing device. The security system and method selectively allows access to the wireless networking system based on the determined location of the mobile computing device. For example, the security system and method will permit access to the wireless networking system if the mobile computing device is determined to be in an area of permitted access. Conversely, the security system and method will deny access to the wireless networking system if the mobile computing device is determined to be not within an area of permitted access. Thus, the system and method is able to effectively control access to the wireless networking system by only permitting access to mobile devices within designated areas.
