Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the subject product, having practical mechanical properties and biodegradable with microorganisms when thrown up in soil and the sea by blending a PVA-based polymer with starch in a specific proportion, dissolving the resultant blend in water, providing a spinning solution and spinning the prepared spinning solution. CONSTITUTION:A PVA polymer (having preferably 500-3500 polymerization degree) is blended with starch so as to provide (90/10) to (50/50), preferably (85/15) to (60/40) weight ratio and the resultant blend is then dissolved in water used as a solvent to afford a spinning solution, which is subsequently spun to provide the objective product.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To suppress shock vibrations at the time of sliding and to realize comfortable riding feeling by composing a fiber reinforced composite material constituting a ski plate of an inorganic fiber containing polyvinyl alcohol fiber reinforced composite material. CONSTITUTION:In a ski plate employing a fiber reinforced composite material in a part of the composing member, a portion or the whole of the fiber reinforced composite martial is composed of a fiber reinforced composite material having reinforcing materials 6, 7 made of an inorganic fiber (for example, glass fiber, carbon fiber) containing polyvinyl alcohol fiber. Said polyvinyl alcohol fiber is adapted to have at least 15g/d of tensile strength and at least 200g/d of tensile modulus of elasticity. Thus, shock vibrations can remarkably be reduced at the time of sliding resulting in a comfortable riding feeling.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the titled yarn having improved water resistance, fatigue resistance, heat resistance, etc., by removing a solvent from spun yarn of PVA polymer, drawing it and drawing it thermally in a hot tube set at a specific temperature. CONSTITUTION:A spinning solution of a PVA polymer having >=1,500 polymeriza tion degree is extruded from a spinning nozzle and coagulated in a coagulating bath consisting of a methanol, etc. Then, a solvent in the prepared coagulated yarn is removed and further drawing is carried out at a room temperature. Subsequently, the yarn is passed through a hot tube having a tube atmosphere temperature set at >=220 deg.C- =13 times total draw ratio is obtained, to give the aimed yarn having >=10g/d tensile strength, >=4.0g/d knot strength, no difference of birefringence between the inner and the outer layers of the yarn and much higher refractive index at the central part that that at the outermost layer.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the titled yarn having high tenacity and modulus and excellent opening property, free from the sticking of the filaments, by extruding a low-concentration solution of a polymer through plural nozzles, removing the solvent from the filaments with an extractant and drying the filament by blasting gas against the filaments while applying vibration to each filament. CONSTITUTION:A polymer such as PE having a weight-average molecular weight of preferably >=1,000,000 is dissolved in a solvent such as decalin to a concentration of 0.5-25wt% to obtain a spinning dope. The dope is extruded through plural nozzles into a cooling bath. The obtained gelatinous filaments are introduced into an extraction bath composed of an extractant such as acetone to remove the solvent from the filaments, or the filaments extruded in air are introduced into a coagulation bath and the coagulated filaments are introduced into an extraction bath to remove the solvent. The objective yarn can be produced by drying the obtained yarn with a gas such as air (preferably at 20-150 deg.C) blasted against the yarn while applying vibration to each filament.

The resultant dried yarns are then drawn under the conditions of the formulas; 3 =3 stages, to give the aimed fibers.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To suppress effectively the gluing between fibers and obtain the titled fibers for ropes, etc., by spinning a solution of a polyolefin having a specific weight-average molecular weight, applying a treating agent, e.g. silicone based agent, to the resultant gelatinous filaments after extracting a solvent therefrom, and hot-drawing the resultant filaments under specific conditions. CONSTITUTION:A solution containing 0.5-15wt% polyolefin polymer, e.g. high- density polyethylene, having >=5X10 weight-average molecular weight is spun to give gelatinous filaments, and the solvent is extracted. A silicone based or fluorine based treating agent or both agents in an amount of 0.5-20wt% are applied to the gelatinous filaments, and the resultant filaments are dried or fibers during the drying are hot-drawn at a temperature of the melting point of the polyolefin based polymer -70 deg.C lower than he melting point at >=10 times draw ratio to give the aimed fibers.

Abstract: PURPOSE:A polyester copolymer containing diphenyldicarboxylic acid is melt spun at a specific taking-up speed and drawn to produce the titled fiber suitably used as an industrial material, because of its high Young's modulus, strength and elongation. CONSTITUTION:A polyester copolymer with an intrinsic viscosity of 0.5-1.8, mde from (A) the acid components consisting of 45-75mol% 4,4'-diphenyldicarboxylic acid and 55-25mol% terephthalic acid and (B) the diol components mainly consisting of ethylene glycol is melt spun at a winding-up speed of more than 5,000, preferably more than 8,000m/min to give a yarn of 100-280X10 optical birefringence. Then, the resultant yarn is drawn at a 1.1-4.0 draw ratio to give the objective fiber of 280-400X10 optical firebringence. USE:Tire cored and conveyor belt.
