    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a high-softening point, transparent polyester, by polycondensing a dicarboxylic acid with a glycol in the presence of a glycol-soluble Mn, Mg or Ca compound and an alkali metal compound, the last two being used at a specified mol ratio. CONSTITUTION:The purpose polyester is obtained by mixing and reacting (A) a terephthalic acid-based dicarboxylic acid component or its esterifiable derivative, (B) an ethylene glycol-based glycol component, (C) about 0.015-1mol%, based on formed polyester, glycol-soluble metallic compound selected from Mn, Mg and Ca compounds (e.g., manganese chloride, manganese acetate), (D) a glycol-soluble alkali metal compound (e.g., lithium chloride, sodium ethylate) in an amount satisfying the formula, wherein M is the total number of mols of component C and A is that of component C and (E) a necessary polymerization catalyst.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the anti-solvent properties and heat resistance and the dimensional accuracy of a process negative film by using a film capable of changing the permeability of the film at an infra-red region to more than the specified value by irradiating energy rays to the film, for the title film. CONSTITUTION:The film is composed of the thermoplastic resin film contg. a compd. (A) having absorption at a near infra-red region, and the photopermeability of the compd. at the max. absorption wavelength of the near infra-red region can be changed to >=30% by irradiating the energy rays such as an electron ray, etc. And, the compd. (A) is composed of a dithiol metal complex shown by the formula, etc., and the thermoplastic resin is composed of polyethylene terephthalate, etc. In the formula, M is Ni or Pd, etc., R is phenyl or alkyl group, etc. And, the film may comprise a composite film composed of a film contg. the compd. (A) and a usual thermoplastic resin film.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To make it possible to obtain the title capacitor having excellent winding adaptability, high dielectric strength and a small decreasing rate of electrostatic capacitance by a method wherein the surface roughness Ra and the heat-shrinkage rate of the composite film constituting a dielectric are specifically prescribed. CONSTITUTION:A dielectric is composed of a triple-layer composite film consisting of a polyester inner layer and a thermoadhesive copolymer polyester layer laminated on both surfaces of the inner layer. At this point, the surface roughness Ra of the composite film is 0.010-0.300mum, the heat-shrinkage rate in longitudinal direction is 5-25%, the heat-shrinkage rate in widthwise direction is 2-20%, and the relation of said two heat-shrinkage rates is longitudinal- direction heat-shrinkage rate >= widthwise-direction heat-shrinkage rate. As a result, the electric characteristics such as the winding adaptability, the dielectric strength, the electrostatic capacitance and the like of the title capacitor can be improved.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the title film suitable for magnetic tape, electrical insulation and condenser with an extremely small amount of low-molecular weight compound precipitated by copolymerizing a dicarboxylic acid component with a diol component having a specific molar volume. CONSTITUTION:(A) 1-20mol% diol component (e. g. 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol) having >=70cm /mol, preferably /mol molar volume of repeating structure unit and (B) a diol component such as ethylene glycol are polymerized with (C) a dicarboxylic acid component such as terephthalic acid to give pellets having >=0.75 intrinsic viscosity. The pellets are fed to a melt extruder, extruded into a sheet, and biaxially oriented to give the aimed film having >=0.70 intrinsic viscosity, 1.3600-1.3849g/cm density and >=800kg/mm sum of Young's moduli of longitudinal direction and width direction.
