    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a film of excellent abrasion resistance by adding chi-alu minum oxide particles to a thermoplastic polyester and molding the resulting composition into a film. CONSTITUTION:A composition prepared by adding chi-aluminum oxide particles to a thermoplastic polyester is formed into a film. The aluminum oxide particles can be prepared by firing, e.g. gibbsite at 400-1100 deg.C. The specific surface area of the chi-aluminum oxide particle is desirably 10m /g or above. The amount of the chi-aluminum oxide particles added is desirably 0.01-10 pts.wt. per 100 pts.wt. thermoplastic polyester.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the title composition which can give a film having improved abrasion resistance and therefore being desirable for, e.g. a magnetic film by adding kappa-aluminum oxide particles to a thermoplastic polyester composition. CONSTITUTION:The title composition is produced by adding kappa-aluminum oxide particles to a thermoplastic polyester (e.g. polyethylene terephthalate). The aluminum oxide particles can be prepared by firing, e.g. gibbsite at, say, about 900-1300 deg.C. The specific surface area of the aluminum oxide particle added is desirably 10m /g or above. The amount of addition is desirably about 0.01-10 pts.wt. This composition can be made into a tape excellent in abrasion resistance and useful for, e.g. a magnetic tape.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the title composition suitable for obtaining film or fiber excellent in abrasion resistance and desirable especially for a magnetic tape repeatedly used under friction by mixing a thermoplastic polyester with amorphous alumina particles. CONSTITUTION:Amorphous alumina particles (desirably particles having a secondary particle diameter of 5.0mum or below and comprising primary particles of a specific surface area of 10m /g or above) are added to a thermoplastic polyester (desirably one based on polyethylene terephthalate). The amount of the amorphous alumina particles added is desirably 0.01-30 pts.wt. per 100 pts.wt. thermoplastic polyester. The obtained polyester composition can be molded into film or fiber of good abrasion resistance and can desirably be used for a magnetic tape repeatedly used under friction.
