Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the subject sheet excellent in handling properties, physical properties and productivity and suitable as a reinforcing component for structural materials by spinning a pitch yarn with a finess lower than a specified value, then forming the resultant yarn into a sheet, infusibilizing and carbonizing the sheet in a sheet state as it is. CONSTITUTION:A pitch is subjected to flash spinning, centrifugal spinning or jet spinning so as to have a finess of

Abstract: PURPOSE:Pitch is melted, degassed and extruded, as the heat history which the pitch undergoes is being controlled, at specific conditions, to obtain carbon fiber stably without yarn breakage and void formation. CONSTITUTION:At first pitch is melted and degassed usually by treating it with reduced pressure. Then, the pitch is extruded out of the nozzles as the heat history the pitch undergoes is being controlled so that the amount of gas formed by pyrolysis becomes less than 0.2ml per 1g of pitch. The spinning of the pitch is preferably effected using a vented extruder.

Abstract: PURPOSE:The titled fiber that has a specific crystallization temperature and melting point, thus showing good heat resistance, heat stability and dimension stability. CONSTITUTION:A polyphenylene sulfide in which more than 90mol% of the structural units is p-phenylene sulfide, preferably with a small content of branched structure and a melt flow of 5-300, is subjected to melt spinning in a nitrogen atmosphere at a temperature as low as possible. The extruded yarn is taken up at a speed higher than 4km/min., preferably higher than 5km/min., to give the objective fiber of lower than 120 deg.C crystallization temperature, when measured by means of a differential thermal analyzer and of higher than 85 deg.C melting point.
