    Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain a polyester film free from a surface defect and having a smooth surface by laminating a composite layer consisting of non-liquid crystal polyester and liquid crystal polyacrylate on at least the single surface of a composite layer having the same compsn. CONSTITUTION: A polyester film is formed by laminating a composite layer (B) consisting of non-liquid crystal polyester and liquid crystal polyacrylate on at least the single surface of a composite layer (A) consisting of non-liquid crystal polyester and liquid crystal polyacrylate. Liquid crystal polyacrylate is polyester having a melligen group and having melt moldability and liquid crystal forming properties. As a representative example of nonliquid crystal polyester, there are polyethylene terephthalate, polybutylene terephthalate, etc. The content of liquid crystal polyacrylate in the composite layer (B) is less than that of liquid crystal polyacrylate in the composite layer (A) and set to 0-10wt.%, pref., 0-1wt.% to develop smoothness free from a surface defect.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain a biaxially oriented polyester film which improves the contact state of a magnetic tape and a head, reduces the damage of a magnetic surface and has improved in electromagnetic conversion characteristics by specifying the inclination of the orientation main axis of the biaxially oriented polyester film with respect to the longitudinal direction of the film. CONSTITUTION: The orientation main axis of a biaxially oriented polyester film is inclined within a range of 3-20 deg. with respect to the longitudinal direction of the film. The stretching of the film in the longitudinal direction thereof may be performed in an one-stage fashion or a multistage fashion of two or more stages but, when the F-5 value in the longitudinal direction of an uniaxially stretched film is 17kg/mm or more, it is especially suitable to perform two-stage stretching such that a polyester film is stretched by 1.2-4 times within the temp. range of Tg-(Tg+60 deg.C) of polyester and subjected to the second stage stretching of about 2-5 times at temp. equal to or lower than (first stage stretching temp. -5 deg.C) in order to obtain this inclination of the orientation main axis. Subsequently, the polyester film is laterally stretched and oriented.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To stably form a biaxially oriented polyethylene-2,6-naphthalate film having excellent mechanical strength to beneficially use the same for a magnetic recording medium or the like by performing longitudinal stretching over two stages and setting the stretching conditions in the respective stages to specific ranges. CONSTITUTION:A non-stretched polyethylene-2,6-naphthalate film in a substantially amorphous state is stretched by 1.5-3.0 times at temp. of 140-200 deg.C in a first stage and continuously stretched in the same direction as the first stage at temp. lower than the stretching temp. of the first stage so that the product of the stretching magnification of the first stage and that of a second stage becomes 5.0-12.0 times. Further, the film is streched in the direction crossing the stretching direction of the first and second stags at a right angle. Herein, it is pref. that the double refraction (DELTAn) of the film after first stage stretching is 0.005-0.07 and the double refraction (DELTAn) of the film after second stage stretching is 0.2-0.5.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve heat dimension-stability in a highly strengthened direction so as to make strength and dimensional stability compatible by setting M/P of polyester to a specified range. CONSTITUTION:A polymer having 0.2-1.0 of M/P of polyester is formed into a sheet by an extruder (M and P represent remaining quantities of metal and phosphorus in the polymer). The sheet is stretched two times in the longitudinal direction at about 140 deg.C, treated with heat at about 155 deg.C, stretched 3.5 times in the same direction at about 125 deg.C and cooled quickly to room temperature. Succeedingly, the sheet is stretched 3 times in the cross direction at about 105 deg.C, further stretched two times in a temperature rising process of about 150-200 deg.C, cooled to about 100 deg.C or lower once, and further treated with heat for 5sec. at about 210 deg.C under lowering temperature in three steps. The edges of it are cut and a film is taken up in roll and aging treatment is done at a specified temperature for a specified time. Thus, a film having a high strength with a unidirectional Young's modulus of 1000kg/mm or above and excellent thermal stability can be obtained.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To satisfy both characteristics of the durability and high S/N of a magnetic layer by using a thermoplastic resin contg. particles and specifying the relation between the size of the particles and the thickness of the films, the contents, the thickness of the films, F-5 value, etc. CONSTITUTION:This audio tape consists of the biaxially oriented thermoplastic resin film and the magnetic layer. The biaxially oriented thermoplastic resin film includes a film layer A essentially consisting of the thermoplastic resin A and the particles and having 0.005 to 3mum thickness. The diameter of the particles incorporated into the film layer A is 0.1 to 10 times the thickness of the film layer A. The durability and S/N are inferior if this range is exceeded. The content of the particles is 0.5 to 50wt.%. The S/N is inferior if this range is exceeded. Further, the F-5 value in the machine direction of the biaxially oriented thermoplastic resin is >=1,500kg/cm . The durability is inferior if the value is below this value.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the subject film excellent in scratch resistance and dubbing resistance by specifying the state of fine ruggedness present on at least one surface of a film. CONSTITUTION:A thermoplastic resin (e.g. polyethylene terephthalate) is, for example, biaxially oriented to form a film, and fine ruggednesses are formed on at least one surface of this film desirably by irradiation with laser beams so that the height of these ruggednesses may be 0.01 to 2mum, the distance between the peaks may be 10mum or below, and that these ruggednesses may be composed of those substantially not ascribable to inert particles.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a thermoplastic resin sheet which, in a static electricity applying cast method using tape electrodes, can remarkably increase the upper limit of a sheet molding speed which prevents the generation of the defect of electricity application nonuniformity in the sheet and an apparatus for the method. SOLUTION: In the method for producing the sheet, when a molten thermoplastic resin is extruded from a nozzle into a sheet, and the sheet is made to adhere to a cooling drum by the static electricity applying cast method, cooled, and solidified for molding, an electrostatic charge is applied to the sheet by using the tape electrodes, and ionized air is sprayed to both end parts of the sheet. The apparatus for the method is provided.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a thermoplastic resin sheet of superior thickness uniformity and scarcely having a small number of surface defects at high speed. SOLUTION: In a method for forming a sheet in which molten thermoplastic resin in the sheet shape is extruded from a mouthpiece and bonded and solidified on a cooling drum by the electrostatic applying casting method to form a sheet, a tape-shaped electrode having a rectangular section and uniform shape in the longitudinal direction and the electric resistivity of 10 μΩ.cm or more is used. In that case, the heat conductivity of the tape-shaped electrode is set as not more than 0.1 cal/cm.sec. deg.C, and the thickness is not less than 0.01 to not more than 0.50 mm, and the width is not less than 1 mm not more than 20 mm.
