Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the breakdown voltage of a polyethylene naphthalate film for capacitor and stabilize the dielectric characteristic of the film by specifying the breaking extension and breaking strength of the film. CONSTITUTION:A polyethylene naphthalate film for capacitor has a braking extension of =25kg/mm in both the longitudinal and transversal directions. The average surface roughness Ra of the film is adjusted to 0.01-0.2mum and the film is used for a chip-like film capacitor. This film is manufactured by extruding polyethylene naphthalate which is polimerized in a molten state or solid state and contains fine particles in a sheet-like state after drying. After elongating the sheet 2.5-6 times in the longitudinal direction, the sheet is elongated 2.5-6 times in the transversal direction. After further elongating the sheet 1.1-3 times in both the longitudinal and transversal directions, the sheet is heated while the sheet is maintained in a rolled state.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a polypropylene film for a capacitor in which moist heat resistant life can be improved and which has excellent productivity without deteriorating other electric characteristics by forming a film formed at least on one side surface and having a specific thickness of water dispersible polyester polyurethane resin in such a manner that its elongation at breakage and tensile strength are specific values. CONSTITUTION:A polypropylene film for a capacitor comprises a film of 0.01-1mum formed on at least one side surface and made of water dispersible polyester polyurethane resin in such a manner that its tensile strength is 300kg/cm or more at 100% of its elongation at breakage. The elongation at breakage of the resin is preferably 50% or less, and when it exceeds 100%, its moist heat resistance is deteriorated, blocking further easily occurs, and releasability at the time of winding is deteriorated. Then, the tensile strength is preferably 450kg/cm or more in view of moist heat resistant lifetime, press adhesion preventive properties. If it is less than 300kg/cm , the moist heat resistant lifetime is insufficient, and the press adhesion preventive properties are deteriorated.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a leakage current and an electric power loss, restrain a propagation delay of an electric signal, and improve a characteristic of a propagating speed by setting a dielectric constant in a specific frequency of a polyester film in a specific range, and setting a rate of change of apparent density when soaked in ethyl alcohol not more than a specific value. SOLUTION: A dielectric constant of a polyester film at 1 kHz is set in a range of 1.5 to 3.0, and a rate of change of apparent density when soaked in ethyl alcohol is set not more than 10%. Therefor, a dielectric constant in the whole film is reduced by including air wrapping-in pores having extremely small dielectric constant and dielectric dissipation factor inside the film. In the respective pares, when the film is soaked in insulating oil, a refrigerant and a thermosetting resin, the respective ones do not permeate up to the inmost part inside of the film to restrain apparent density to a rate of change not more than a specific value.

SOLUTION: A film is made mainly of polyethylene terephthalate and is oriented biaxially. Its thermal deformation S120 at 120 deg.C in the lengthwise direction is represented by a formula, S120 =(L120 -L40 )/L40 ×100(%) (L120 : length of film sample at 120 deg.C; L40 : length of film sample at 40 deg.C). In this case, the thermal deformation S120 is 1 to 2.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance long-term dielectric breakdown characteristics at high temp. and the permeability and swelling resistance between film layers at a time of the immersion in insulating oil by specifying the isotacticity and isotactic pendant ratio of a biaxially oriented polypropylene film and the center line average surface roughness of both surfaces thereof. SOLUTION: The isotacticity of a biaxially oriented polypropylene film is 98.5-99.5%. The isotacticity is defined by the ratio of the wt. of the insoluble component in the film to the wt. of the film before extraction when the film is extracted with boiling n-heptane. The stereoregularity of the polypropylene film is evaluated on the basis of a pendant ratio by an absorption peak of a methyl group measured by C-NMR and the isotactic pendant ratio mmmm of this film exceeds 99%. Further, the max. roughness of both surfaces of the biaxially oriented polypropylene film is pref. 0.1-4.0μm.

SOLUTION: The polyester film for a capacitor is a two-axially orientated film of a polyester of a polyethylene terephthalate contg. at least an acid component other than that of terephthalic acid and/or glycol component other than that of ethylene glycol 0.1-10mol%. This improves the film formability i.e., making the film hardly broken and allows a stable film forming for a long time and enables production of very thin films not produced in the prior art, resulting in forming of a polyester film for a capacitor, superior in various electric characteristics (breakdown voltage).

The film is formed of a resin composition composed of polyester of 70wt.% or more as a main component.
