Abstract: The present invention relates methods and apparatus for lining a wellbore. In one aspect, a drilling assembly having an earth removal member and a wellbore lining conduit is manipulated to advance into the earth. The drilling assembly includes a first fluid flow path and a second fluid flow path. Fluid is flowed through the first fluid flow path, and at least a portion of which may return through the second fluid flow path. In one embodiment, the drilling assembly is provided with a third fluid path. After drilling has been completed, wellbore lining conduit may be cemented in the wellbore.

Abstract: A protection tool is provided to protect a control line in a safe area while one or more slips of a spider are being closed. In another embodiment, a safety interlock system is provided to prevent the closing of the slips before the control line is pulled away from the tubular string. In yet another embodiment, a safety interlock system includes a safety interlock trigger adapted to be actuated by a protection tool. The safety interlock trigger is adapted to detect the physical presence of the protection tool, and thereafter send a signal to the interlock system to enable an operator or a control mechanism to safely close the slips.

Abstract: The present invention provides an apparatus and methods to reduce ECD and pressure associated therewith while drilling with casing. In one aspect, the invention provides an energy transfer assembly locatable at a predetermined location in a casing string. The assembly includes an impeller portion in the interior of the casing to be acted upon by the downward moving fluid in the casing and a pump portion disposed outwardly of the impeller portion and arranged in fluid communication with the upward moving fluid in the annulus between the casing and the borehole, adding energy thereto and reducing pressure in the annulus therebelow. In another aspect, the energy transfer assembly is retrievable to the surface of the wellbore prior to cementing. In a further aspect, fluid ports between the interior and exterior of the casing are remotely sealable prior to cementing.

Abstract: A continuous rod string 100 is fed into in a deviated wellbore 10 from delivery reel 35. Delivery apparatus 30 provides the insertion force. The delivery apparatus 30 also includes a depth encoder 25 to record the amount of string 100 within the wellbore 10 at any given time thereby determining the position of a tool 110 within the wellbore 10. Data measured and recorded by the downhole tool 110 is then correlated with the depth encoder reading thereby defining the position of the tool 110 in the wellbore 10. This information is then used to form a "log" of measured data as a function of depth within the wellbore 10 at which the data is recorded. A communication line 105, which may be electrical or fibre optic, transmits signals from or to a downhole apparatus 110 such as a logging device or pump.
