Abstract: A drone includes a frame and a fuselage. The fuselage is coupled to the frame extending away from the frame. The fuselage has a front panel and a bottom panel, and the front panel is positioned at an angle between the bottom surface of the frame and the bottom panel of the fuselage. A first wing is opposite a second wing and are coupled to the frame. The first and second wings extend outwardly from opposite sides of the frame. A first and second mounting member are coupled to the frame and extend outwardly from opposite sides of the frame. A plurality of power generator systems are included and each system is coupled to the first or second mounting member. Each power generator system comprises a power source coupled to a propeller.

Abstract: A method for calibrating a target gas sensor inside a drone comprises receiving air flow at the target sensor due to least one of diverted propeller air flow or diverted air flow caused by drone flight, measuring a concentration of the target gas, receiving equivalent air flow at a sensor of at least one reference gas having known atmospheric concentration positioned in or on the drone, measuring a concentration of the at least one reference gas, and calibrating the measured concentration of the target gas based on the measured concentration of the at least one reference gas.

Abstract: Provided herein are systems and methods for an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) to skid and roll along an environmental surface. A reliable UAV includes an airframe assembly, a propulsion system, and a logic device configured to communicate with the propulsion system. The airframe assembly includes a cylindrical rolling guard configured to allow the UAV to roll along an environmental surface in contact with the cylindrical rolling guard. The logic device is configured to determine a rolling orientation for the UAV corresponding to the environmental surface, maneuver the UAV to place the cylindrical rolling guard of the airframe assembly in contact with the environmental surface, and roll the airframe assembly of the UAV along the environmental surface at approximately the determined rolling orientation while the cylindrical rolling guard is in contact with the environmental surface.

The rotor unit (1, 1') comprises a second rotor (1') and the hybrid drive unit (10) comprises a second electric motor (7'), wherein the generator (12) is coupled to the second electric motor (7') in such a way that the second electric motor (7') is feedable with electricity from the generator (12), and wherein the first rotor (1) is driven by the first electric motor (7) and the second rotor (1') is driven by the second electric motor (7').

Abstract: A method is provided that includes causing an operational member of a system to move. The method includes driving a power or control signal through a conductive coupling member. The conductive coupling member is connected between a first terminal and a second terminal in a power circuit, and the coupling member secures the operational member to a structural member of the system. The method includes detecting an electrical disconnect between the first terminal and a second terminal. The method includes determining a mechanical break associated with the coupling member based on the electrical disconnect between the first terminal and the second terminal. The method includes causing the operational member of the system to stop moving based on determining the mechanical break associated with the coupling member.
