Abstract: The present invention relates to a protective foldable cage (100) adapted to flying drones. It comprises several ribs linked at their extremities by a ring and comprising on their length several connexion points allowing strings to join each of the adjacent ribs. The length of the string corresponds to the maximal angular shift between the first and the last ribs. The protective cage further comprises easily removable locking means adapted to maintain the ribs at predetermined relative angular position once deployed. The present invention further relates to a system comprising such a protective cage and a drone support, as well as a method of protection of flying drones.

Erfindungsgemäß werden Strömungen oder Teilströmungen mit einer Neigung der Mittelachse der jeweiligen Strömung oder Teilströmung von mindestens 10° und maximal 90° gegenüber der Normalen auf die horizontale Ebene des Gerätes oder Teilsystems erzeugt, wobei wechselnde Strömungsgeschwindigkeit und/oder Strömungsrichtung der Strömungen und/oder Teilströmungen Schub erzeugt wird, der zumindest eine Komponente in der horizontalen Ebene des Gerätes oder Teilsystems hat und zum Vortrieb und/oder der Änderung der Geschwindigkeit des Geräts oder Teilsystems und/oder Kompensation von Störungen in dieser Ebene, bei Beibehaltung oder der Möglichkeit zur Beibehaltung einer horizontalen oder konstant geneigten Lage des schwebenden Gerätes oder Teilsystems, genutzt wird.

Abstract: A method of assembling a delivery payload assembly configured to be deployed from an aircraft and travel along a flight path to a predetermined landing destination includes attaching a tail-kit assembly to a first end of a payload, the tail-kit assembly including a rotor blade assembly including a plurality of rotor blades having a central axis of rotation, and a flight control and navigation system configured to control a collective pitch angle of each of the plurality of rotor blades of the rotor blade assembly, configured to control an axial thrust force of the rotor blade assembly, the axial thrust force being at an angle with respect to the central axis of rotation of the rotor blade assembly, and configured to navigate the delivery payload assembly along the flight path to the predetermined landing destination. The method further includes removing the tail-kit assembly from the payload after the payload is delivered to the predetermined landing destination.

Abstract: An unmanned aerial vehicle according to certain embodiments generally includes a chassis, a power supply mounted to the chassis, a control system operable to receive power from the power supply, at least one rotor operable to generate lift under control of the control system, and a winch mounted to the chassis. The winch includes a reel and a motor. The reel has a line wound thereon, the line having a free end. The reel includes a circumferential channel in which a wound portion of the line is wound onto the reel. The circumferential channel includes an inner portion, an outer portion, and a passage connecting the inner portion and the outer portion. The motor is operable to rotate the reel under control of the control system to thereby cause the line to wind onto and off of the reel, thereby causing the free end of the line to raise and lower.
