    Abstract: One or more spring lock devices are included at the inner sides of a conventional garage door positioned to engage with the side door frame. The spring locks are actuated to the open position by operative connection, usually through tension lines to a garage door drive mechanism, which is connected to the garage door through a lost motion mechanism so that initial movement of the drive mechanism moves the spring lock devices and opens them before the garage door mechanism moves the garage door. For closing, the spring lock devices can be of the wedge striker type which will close and lock with the closing motion of the garage door or of a straight pin type, in which case the door is adjusted so that its balance mechanisms always biases the door toward the closed position when the door is near its closed position.

    Abstract: A door operator for moving a door between a closed position wherein the door extends substantially vertically and closes a door opening and an open position wherein the door extends substantially horizontally and is disposed adjacent the upper edge of the door opening. The operator includes an elongated guide which extends in a substantially horizontal direction away from the door opening. A carriage is engaged with the guide and is movable therealong. A drawbar assembly is connected between the carriage and the door, and a motor is drivingly interconnected to the carriage for moving same along the guide to result in movement of the door between the open and closed positions. The drawbar assembly includes a first arm member hingedly connected to the carriage at a first pivot axis, and a second arm member hingedly connected to the door at a second pivot axis which is substantially parallel to but spaced from the first pivot axis. A spring unit is connected between the first and second arm members for permitting relative movement therebetween.

    Abstract: The hinge comprises a compression spring for balancing the weight of leaves which are hinged on a horizontal axis, such as covers, flaps or the like, particularly in refrigerating chests. One end of the compression spring bears under initial stress on the stationary hinge member. The other end of the spring bears by means of the end of a spring-guiding rod, which supports the spring, on the second hinge member, which is secured to the leaf. The lower end of the spring-guiding rod bears by means of a rocker on a knife edge bearing provided on the stationary hinge member. The guiding rod is provided with coarse pitch screw threads at its end opposite to the slider. The rocker carries a nut which has coarse pitch screw threads and is in threaded engagement with the lower end of the guiding rod.
