Improved additives/detergents for lubricant and fuel compositions are obtained by condensing a hydroxyalkyl or hydroxyaryl compound with an amine compound. The condensates according to the present invention are produced by the acid catalyzed condensation of the amine reactant with the hydroxy reactant.

A composition comprising a diesel fuel oil and a nitrogen-containing dispersant wherein the number obtained by multiplying the percent nitrogen of said dispersant by the weight average molecular weight of said dispersant is in the range from about 45,000 to about 100,000, and wherein the composition optionally contains one or more cetane number improvers, stabilizers, corrosion inhibitors and/or flow improvers. These compositions provide exceptional diesel fuel injector cleanliness.

A fuel composition for internal combustion engines, and more particularly, a fuel composition for internal combustion engines containing less than about 0.5 gram of lead per gallon of fuel. The fuel provides acceptable valve seat protection in eingines designed to operate on leaded fuels. A further aspect of the invention is to reduce deposit formation within the cylinders.
