Abstract: A pedal assembly has a mounting bracket for mounting the pedal assembly on a vehicle. A link is pivotally connected to the mounting bracket for movement about a first pivot axis. The link is operably connectable to a control system of the vehicle. A pivot connection mechanism pivotally connects an arm of the pedal to the link for movement about a second pivot axis which is spaced from the first pivot axis. The pivot connection mechanism has a drive operably connected to the arm for effecting articulating movement of the pedal relative to the mounting bracket about the second pivot axis. The pivot connection mechanism has a taumel gear connection between the arm and the link providing continuous engagement therebetween. The pivot connection mechanism is enclosed to protect against dirt and debris.

Abstract: A power sliding door assembly for a motor vehicle comprising a door structure constructed and arranged to be mounted on a motor vehicle for movement between closed and opened positions and a drive assembly mounted on the door structure. The drive assembly includes a rotatable gear engageable with a gear track provided on the vehicle. The rotatable gear is drivable in a one direction to effect movement of the door towards the opened position and drivable in an opposite direction to effect movement of the door structure towards the closed position. A drive shaft is coupled with the drive assembly and is constructed and arranged to rotatably drive the rotatable gear. A reversible motor is mounted on said door structure and is energizable to drive the drive shaft in a first direction to enable the drive shaft to drive the rotatable gear in the one direction, and energizable to drive the drive shaft in a second direction opposite the first direction to enable the drive shaft to drive the rotatable gear in the opposite direction. A clutch assembly is provided that is constructed and arranged to selectively couple the reversible motor with the drive shaft, so that the reversible motor is coupled to the drive shaft when energized to rotate the drive shaft in either of the first and second directions, and so that the reversible motor is de-coupled from the drive shaft to prevent back-driving of the motor when the door structure is manually moved between the opened and closed positions.

Abstract: A latch and mounting pin assembly (20) includes a latch housing (22) with an inner plate mounted to one side (28) and an outer plate mounted to an opposing side (26). Each of the plates include three apertures which are aligned with each other. Three mounting pins (36) are included with each pin extending through a corresponding pair of apertures. A head (38) is disposed on one end of each of the pins for abutting the outer plate. The latch and pin assembly is characterized by each mounting pin having an enlarged barrel portion extending from the head to a shoulder. The shoulder abuts the inner plate to orient the outer plate relative to the inner plate. There is also provided a threaded shank (50) extending outward from the shoulder to provide a means for mounting the assembly to a frame of a vehicle.

Abstract: A vehicle door lock assembly has a latch (12) for mounting on a vehicle door . The latch (12) has at least one release lever for effecting releasing of the latch and at least one locking lever (14) for locking the latch, disabling t he release lever, and unlocking the latch, enabling the release lever. A compou nd linkage (20, 24; 20, 124) operatively engages the locking lever (14). A lock cylinder (30, 130) has a spindle (28) which engages the linkage. The spindle (28) rotates in response to keyed rotation of a matched key being received b y the lock cylinder (30; 130) which drives the linkage (20, 24; 20, 124) to effect movement of the locking lever (14). The spindle (28) is axially slidable to disengage the spindle from the linkage. A hollow shield (34) shrouds the locking lever (14), the linkage (20, 24; 20, 124) and the engagement between the linkage and the spindle (28), preventing access thereto. If the spindle is removed, the linkage will pivot away preventing manipulation thereof. The hollow shield (34) also separates the linkage (20, 24; 20, 124) from the lock cylinder opening further minimizing unauthorized manipulation of the locking lever.

Abstract: A secondary release mechanism for a vehicle hood latch has a pivotally mounted secondary latch which is rotatable between a latching position and a unlatching position and biased towards the latching position. A pivotally mounted release arm is rotatable between a retracted position, a deployed position and a releasing position and biased to the standby position. A pivotally mounted release lever is rotatable between a release position, a standby position and a retract position. The release lever has a cam surface for engaging a hood of the vehicle as the hood moves between the fully latched condition and a secondary latched condition responsively rotating the release lever between the standby position and the retract position. The release lever operably engages the secondary latch as the release lever rotates from the standby position to the release position. The release arm engages the release lever wherein responsive movement of the release lever between the standby position to the retract position responsively effects movement of the release arm between the deployed position and the retracted position and movement of the release arm from the deployed position to the releasing position responsively effects movement of the release lever rotating the secondary latch from the latching position to the unlatching position.

Abstract: A power sliding door (10) for a motor vehicle comprises a door structure, a power drive assembly, a latch assembly (22), and a single motor (108) for operating both the latch assembly (22) and the power drive assembly (14). The door structure is mounted on a track (204) associated with the motor vehicle, the door structure being movable along the track (204) between opened and closed positions. The power drive assembly (14) is connected with the door (10) and capable of being driven to move the door (10) along the track (204) between the opened and closed positions. The latch assembly (22) is mounted on the door (10) and movable between latched and unlatched positions. The single motor (108) is mounted on the door structure operatively connected with both the power drive assembly (14) and the latch assembly (22). The motor (108) drives the power drive assembly (14) and thus enables the power drive assembly (14) to move the door along the track between the opened and closed positions. The motor (108) assists movement of the latch assembly (22) to the latched position after the power drive assembly (14) moves the door (10) to the closed position.

Abstract: A power-operated vehicle door locking assembly including separate inner and outer door locking mechanisms connected with a housing assembly and an electric motorized system operable to selectively move (1) the inner door locking mechanism between an inoperative and an inner door locking position in response to inner manual electric motor energizing actuations and (2) the outer door locking mechanism between an inoperative and an outer door locking positions in response to outer manual electric motor energizing actuations. The arrangement is such that an outer manual electric motor energizing actuation without a corresponding inner manual electric motor energizing actuation causes a door latching assembly when in a door latching position to be incapable of being moved into a door unlatching position by an outer door latch releasing mechanism while at the same time the door latching assembly is capable of being moved into the door unlatching position thereof by an inner door latch releasing mechanism.

Abstract: An anti-pinch assembly is used in combination with a closure device of a motor vehicle. The closure device includes a closure panel, i.e., a windowpane or door, and a motor for moving the closure panel between an open position and a closed position. In the closed position, the closure panel covers an aperture, i.e., a window or door opening, of the motor vehicle. The anti-pinch assembly includes a position sensor that is disposed adjacent the motor or the closure device. The position sensor generates a position signal indicative of the position of the closure panel. A capacitive sensor measures the capacitance of a field extending through the aperture. The capacitive sensor generates a signal therefrom. A controller is electrically connected to the position and capacitive sensors. The controller receives the position and capacitive signals and transmits a signal to the motor to prevent the motor from moving the closure panel toward the closed position when the output signals deviates from a series of predetermined values for more than a predetermined period of time.
