Abstract:
This disclosure provides novel adhesive compositions comprising a highly crosslinked and plasticized low T g (meth)acrylic copolymer that are self-wetting when applied to a substrate, and peelable therefrom.
Abstract:
Pressure-sensitive adhesive compositions and articles containing the pressure-sensitive adhesives are provided. The pressure-sensitive adhesives contain an (meth)acrylic-based elastomeric material prepared from (2-isopropyl-5-methyl)hexyl (meth)acrylate.
Abstract:
A hand-held writing device is provided that includes a writing implement, such as a pen, pencil, stylus, or marker, and a deformable grip that envelops a section of the barrel of the writing implement. The deformable grip forms an air gap between the grip and the barrel of the writing implement. The deformable grip includes a viscoelastic polymer that does not spontaneously deform at room temperature and that, when deformed, recovers its initial shape at room temperature in 5 seconds or greater. Also provided is a method of making the same.
Abstract:
A plurality of particles comprising a crosslinked aromatic epoxy vinyl ester polymer, wherein a particle from the plurality of proppant particles swells not more than 20 percent by volume when submerged in toluene for 24 hours at 70 °C is disclosed. A plurality of particles comprising a crosslinked aromatic epoxy vinyl ester polymer, wherein a particle from the plurality of particles maintains at least 75 percent of its height under a pressure of 1.7 x 10 7 Pascals up to at least 135 °C is also disclosed. Mixtures of the plurality of particles and other particles, fluids containing the plurality of particles, methods of making the plurality of particles, and methods of fracturing a subterranean geological formation are also disclosed.
Abstract:
Articles comprise: a nonwoven fiber web and one or more strips bonded to the nonwoven fiber web. The strips comprise a shape-memory polymer that has a strained temporary shape and an intrinsic shape. If heated at or above a transition temperature, the strip at least partially converts from the strained temporary shape to the intrinsic shape, thereby causing at least one of folding, cupping, or puckering of the nonwoven fiber web. Methods of heating the articles to provide folded, cupped, and/or puckered articles are also disclosed.
Abstract:
Presently described are curable compositions comprising a mixture of at least one (e.g. free-radically) polymerizable ionic liquid and at least one other ethylenically unsaturated monomer, oligomer, or polymer. The polymerizable ionic liquid is characterized as having an air to nitrogen curing exotherm ratio of at least 0.70. Also described are articles and methods of making articles from such curable compositions. A monofunctional polymerizable ionic liquid is also described comprising a non- polymerizable substituted imidazolium cationic group and a polymerizable sulfonate anion.
Abstract:
A pressure sensitive adhesive composition comprising a 2-octyl (meth)acrylate/(meth)acrylic acid copolymer and a crosslinking agent is described. The adhesive composition may be derived from renewable resources and provides good peel, shear and high temperature stability.
Abstract:
Acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive ("PSA") compositions crosslinked with a small-molecule crosslinker containing a single, thermally reversible moiety represented by the structure (I) (Formula I) ). wherein each R1 is independently -H or -CH3, each X is independently C2-C6 alkyl, and each R2 is independently a C1-C6 alkyl group or an aromatic group. Under high temperature conditions the crosslinks may be broken, thus allowing for good coating and dispensing of the PSA. Upon cooling, the crosslinks reform to create a gelled PSA network without need of additional post-processing curing steps.
Abstract:
Controlled radical initiators, reaction mixtures containing the controlled radical initiators and various ethylenically unsaturated monomers, polymeric materials formed from the reaction mixtures, crosslinkable compositions containing the polymeric materials, and crosslinked compositions formed from the crosslinkable compositions are provided. The controlled radical initiators are bis-dithiocarbamate or bis-dithiocarbonate compounds having a single carbon between the two dithiocarbamate or dithiocarbonate groups.
Abstract:
An (meth)acrylate pressure-sensitive adhesive copolymer is described prepared by crosslinking with a (meth)acrylic crosslinking monomer containing an allyl group.
