Abstract: Multimetal oxide mass is of the following expression Mo12BiaX bFecX dX eOy (I), where X is Co and/or Ni; X is Si and/or Al; X is alkali; 0.3 ≤ a ≤ 1; 2 ≤ b ≤ 10; 0.5 ≤ c ≤ 10; 0 ≤ 10; 0 ≤ e ≤ 0.5 and y is a number which is produced by the sum of the valencies and the stoichiometric coefficient of the remaining elements, where in the crystalline portion, lies beta -X MoO4as main component, Fe2(MoO4)3 as sub component and no MoO3. Independent claim is included for (a) process for producing multi-metal oxide, (b) use of multi-metal oxide and (c) catalyst in the form of stone chips, mold body or shell catalyst.

Abstract: In the present invention, there is described a process of catalytic oxidation of propylene to acrolein in gaseous phase wherein a gas-phase mixture of propene and oxygen is catalytically oxidized by passing a reactant gas mixture comprising propene and oxygen through a plurality of catalyst containing contact tubes in a fixed bed reactor and simultaneously passing only one heat-exchange medium at elevated temperature over the exterior surfaces of the contact tubes in a longitudinal flow pattern which is co-current with the direction of flow of the reactants through said tube; simultaneously superposing a transverse flow on said longitudinal flow of heat exchange medium by means of an arrangement of successive baffles along the contact tubes which leave passage cross-sections free, thereby resulting in a meandrous flow of the heat-exchange medium through the reactor and setting the flow rate of said heat-exchange medium so that its temperature between the point of entry of the medium into the reactor and its point of exit increases by 2 to 10 degC.

Abstract: The present method for cleaning a rectification column in which unsaturated acids have been separated by rectification from solvents in which these acids were absorbed after the synthesis reaction, the rectification is briefly interrupted and the rectification column is flushed with an aqueous solution of potassium hydroxide or an aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide in order to separate polymeric sediments. The interruption is preferably carried out at regular time intervals, whereby an alkali metal or an alkaline earth metal neutral salt can be added in the sodium or potassium hydroxide aqueous solution.

Abstract: The temperature difference between gas and condenser surface is reduced, compared with present practice, to less than 20 deg C. At least 10 000 condensation nuclei/cm in the condenser for effective condensation is carried out. The gas mixture should have a Lewis factor between 0.9 and 1.5. Components which are required to be separated are water vapor and an organic vapor, which could be the principal product or a byproduct. Cooling is generally carried out in at least two stages over heat exchange surfaces that could be dry or covered by a water film. The body of the specification, supported by the drawings, contains detailed examples of condensation processes in which data from the inventive and the present methods are compared.
