Abstract: Thermoplastic moulding compositions containing, as essential components, A) 5 - 95% by weight of a polyamide, B) 5 - 95% by weight of a modified polyphenylene ether prepared from b1) 4.95 - 99.95% by weight of a polyphenylene ether, b2) 0 - 90% by weight of a vinyl aromatic polymer b3) 0.05 - 10% by weight of b31) fumaric acid and/or b32) a maleimide of the formula I in which R , R and R are hydrogen, alkyl, alkoxy, cycloalkyl, alkenyl, aryl, arylene or alkylene groups having 1 - 12 carbon atoms, and/or b33) an amide-containing monomer having a polymerisable double bond, and/or b34) a lactam-containing monomer having a polymerisable double bond, and/or b35) a monoester or monoamide of an alpha , beta -unsaturated dicarboxylic acid, b4) 0 - 80% by weight of further graft-active monomers, and b5) 0 - 20% by weight of a free-radical initiator, C) 0 - 90% by weight of an unmodified polyphenylene ether, D) 0 - 45% by weight of a vinylaromatic polymer, and E) 0 - 40% by weight of an impact-modifying rubber.

Production of profiled parts from polyamide nanocomposites containing polyamide A and a delaminated silicate layer (B) the ductility can be increased when during injection molding a melt containing A and B is introduced into the injection molding tool feeding head and the conditions are selected so that the melt in the injection molding tool flows in a parallel direction, thus imparting a high degree of orientation to the melt. Independent claims are included for: (1) a profiled part obtained as described below; (2) the process as described above in which the extent of orientation of the melt is frozen in when the melt solidifies.

The graft polymerisate of C comprises (wt.%): (c1) a graft base of elastic rubber polymers (40-80) based on alkyl acrylates with a 1-8 C alkyl residue, glass transition temperature below 10 deg C, (c2) a graft support (20-60) comprising (c21) styrene or a substituted styrene (60-95) of formula (I): where R = 1-8C alkyl or H, R = 1-8C alkyl, n = 1,2, or 3, and (c22) at least one unsaturated nitrile (5-40). Component D comprises (wt.%): (d1) optionally substituted styrene of formula (I) or their mixtures (60-95), and (d2) at least one unsaturated nitrile (5-40).
