Abstract:
The invention relates to non-flammable, thermoplastic moulded materials containing (A) at least one polyphenylene ether, (B) at least one vinyl aromatic polymer, and (C) at least one flame-proofing agent. Said materials are characterised in that they also comprise (D) and as the non-drip agent a high-molecular polymer based on acrylamide with a viscosity approximately of above 1.5 mPas, measured in an aqueous solution of 0.1 % at 25 °C. The invention also relates to the use of said materials in the production of fibres, sheets and moulded structures.

A process for producing a polyamide by reacting at least one aminonitrile with water has the following steps: (1) at least one aminonitrile is reacted with water at a temperature from 100 to 360 DEG C and pressure from 0.1 to 35.x 10 Pa, yielding a reaction mixture; (2) the reaction mixture is further reacted at a temperature from 150 to 400 DEG C and pressure lower than the pressure in step 1. The temperature and pressure are selected to yield a first gaseous phase and a first liquid or solid phase or a mixture of a first solid and a first liquid phase. The first gaseous phase is separated from the first liquid or solid phase or the mixture of a first liquid and a first solid phase is separated; and (3) the first liquid or solid phase or the mixture of a first liquid and first solid phase is mixed with a water-containing gaseous or liquid phase at a temperature from 150 to 360 DEG C and pressure from 0.1 to 30 x 10 Pa, yielding a product mixture. Also disclosed are other embodiments of this process and the thus produced polyamides.

The invention concerns a functionalized polymer of the formula A-Z-X in which A is a block made up of vinyl aromatic monomers with 8 to 20, preferably 8 to 12, carbon atoms, Z is a basic unit corresponding to a compound with sterically hindering groups and X is a functionalized basic unit, the degree of functionalization of the polymer being at least 65 %, preferably greater than 85 %, particularly preferably greater than 90 %. The invention also concerns a method of producing such a polymer, thermoplastic moulding compounds it, methods of preparing such moulding compounds, the use of the moulding compounds to produce mouldings, and mouldings including the moulding compounds.

The invention relates to the use of coil tube evaporators for concentrati ng aqueous extract solutions from the extraction of polyamides based on poly amide (6). A method for the production of polyamides based on polyamide (6) comprises the steps (b) one-phase or two-phase reaction of aqueous extract s olutions from the extraction of polyamides based on polyamide (6), which are possibly enriched with caprolactam, aminocapronitrile, aminocaproic acid, o r mixtures thereof, in a pre-reactor at pressures in the range of 5 to 40 ba r and temperatures in the range of 150 to 300°C, wherein in the two-phase re action, the evolved gaseous phase can be separated from the liquid phase, c) discharge of the reaction mixture obtained from step b) by means of a coil tube evaporator at a temperature in the range of 220 to 300°C with a reducti on of pressure to approximately atmospheric pressure and separation of a gas eous phase, producing a liquid phase, d) further reaction of the liquid phas e obtained from step c) at temperatures in the range of 240 to 300°C and pre ssures in the range of atmospheric pressure to 2 bar, with a separation of a gaseous phase.
