Abstract: CO2 and/or H2S are removed from gases which contain CO2 and/or H2S by means of an aqueous absorption liquid containing an alkanolamine, by a process wherein the said gas is treated, in an absorption stage, at from 40 DEG to 100 DEG C., with an aqueous absorption liquid containing from 20 to 70% by weight of methyldiethanolamine, the treated gas is taken off at the top of the absorption stage, the aqueous absorption liquid laden with CO2 and/or H2S is taken off at the bottom of this stage and is regenerated by being let down in two or more flash stages, and the final flash stage is operated under reduced pressure and the regenerated absorption liquid is recycled to the absorption stage.

Abstract: Alkines, dienes, and/or singly unsaturated hydrocarbons; compounds containing sulphur, arsenic and/or antimony; oxygen, hydrogen and/or carbon monoxide are removed from material flows in a total of at most three process steps. In a first process step, after hydrogen has been added to the feed material flow at a hydrogenation catalyst which is largely resistant to compounds containing sulphur, arsenic and/or antimony, alkines, dienes and/or singly unsaturated hydrocarbons are removed by hydrogenation, oxygen which may optionally be present also being at least partially removed by hydrogenation. In a second process step, compounds containing sulphur, arsenic and/or antimony and/or residual oxygen from the first process step are removed by absorption on a contact mass, and/or residual oxygen, carbon monoxide and/or residual hydrogen are at least partially converted catalytically into water and carbon dioxide. Optionally, in a third process step, residual carbon monoxide and/or residual hydrogen from the preceding process steps is/are converted on a contact mass into carbon dioxide and/or water.

Abstract: Prodn. of acrolein (I) and/or acrylic acid (II) from C3H8 involves (A) gas phase partial dehydrogenation of C3H8 to C3H6, using heterogeneous catalyst; (B) using the prod. gas mixt. of C3H6 and unreacted C3H8 for charging an oxidn. reactor, in which C3H6 is converted to (I) and/or (II) by gas phase selective partial oxidn. with pure O2 using heterogeneous catalyst; and (C) separating the prod. from the prod. gas stream and recycling at least the unreacted C3H8 from stage (B) to stage (A). The novelty is that, before entering stage (B), constituents other than C3H8 and C3H6, at least H2 and steam, are removed from the prod. gas mixt. from stage (A). Pref. all constituents except C3H8 and C3H6 are removed after stage (A). Stage (B) is carried out in 2 consecutive reactors charged with multi-metal oxide catalysts, the first of Mo-Bi-Fe and the second of Mo-V. The prod. gas mixt. from the first oxidn. reactor is passed directly into the second; and the vol. ratio of organic cpd. for partial oxidn. (C3H6 or (II)) to O2 is 1:(1-3) in both reactors.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for removing CO2 and possibly H2S from a gas containing CO2 and possibly H2S by means of an absorption fluid, wherein the gas containing CO2 and possibly H2S is treated in an absorption zone with the absorption fluid, the treated gas is extracted from the absorption zone, the absorption fluid laden with CO2 and possibly H2S is then regenerated by expanding the absorption fluid laden with CO2 and possibly H2S in one or more expansion stages and extracting an expansion gas at the top of the first expansion stage or, in the case of more than one expansion stages, at the top of at least one of the first to penultimate expansion stages and feeding, if desired, the partially regenerated absorption fluid obtained from the last expansion stage to a stripping zone for further regeneration, at least one acid gas stream containing the CO2 and possibly H2S being extracted from the regeneration and the regenerated absorption fluid being recycled into the absorption zone, wherein a part stream of fully or partially regenerated absorption fluid is fed to at least one of the expansion stages, from which the expansion gas is extracted, at a point above the feed of the absorption fluid which is to be expanded.
