Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a catalyst showing marked resistance against a sulfur- containing catalytic poison, an aresenic-containing catalytic poison and/or an antimony-containing catalytic poison and to remove alkylene, diene, monounsaturated hydrocarbon and/or oxygen from a flow contaminated with a sulfur-containing catalytic poison, an aresenic-containing catalytic poison and/or an antimony-containing catalytic poison by a simple method. SOLUTION: In the case of a catalyst wherein an active compsn. contains 0.05-1.0 wt.% of at least one group X metal or a metal compd. and 0.05-1.0 wt.% of at least one group XI metal or a metal compd. and a carrier of an SiO2-containing catalyst has a BET surface area of 2-400 m2/g, at least 20% of the total void vol. of this catalyst is formed of voids having a diameter exceeding 100 nm.

Abstract: Alkines, dienes, and/or singly unsaturated hydrocarbons; compounds containing sulphur, arsenic and/or antimony; oxygen, hydrogen and/or carbon monoxide are removed from material flows in a total of at most three process steps. In a first process step, after hydrogen has been added to the feed material flow at a hydrogenation catalyst which is largely resistant to compounds containing sulphur, arsenic and/or antimony, alkines, dienes and/or singly unsaturated hydrocarbons are removed by hydrogenation, oxygen which may optionally be present also being at least partially removed by hydrogenation. In a second process step, compounds containing sulphur, arsenic and/or antimony and/or residual oxygen from the first process step are removed by absorption on a contact mass, and/or residual oxygen, carbon monoxide and/or residual hydrogen are at least partially converted catalytically into water and carbon dioxide. Optionally, in a third process step, residual carbon monoxide and/or residual hydrogen from the preceding process steps is/are converted on a contact mass into carbon dioxide and/or water.

Abstract: Catalyst contains 0.05-1.0 wt.% of a group 10 metal (compound) and 0.05-1.0 wt.% of a group 11 metal (compound). The weight ratio of the group 11 metal to the group 10 metal is 0.95-1.05. The catalyst is supported on a silicon dioxide support having a BET surface area of 2-400 m /g. At least 20% of the total pore volume of the catalyst is present in pores having a diameter above 100 nanometers An Independent claim is also included for a process for removing alkynes, dienes and simple unsaturated hydrocarbons and/or oxygen from material streams by reacting the material stream with hydrogen over a catalyst containing 0.05-1.0 wt.% of a group 10 metal (compound) and 0.05-1.0 wt.% of a group 11 metal (compound).

Abstract: In the prodn. of acicular Co-contg. ferromagnetic Fe oxide, (a) gamma-FeOOH seeds are produced by the acid process in a first stage from Fe(II) salt solns. by addn. of alkali and simultaneous oxidn. by introduction of air in the presence of 0.2-1.0wt.% phosphate ions w.r.t. the amt. of gamma-FeOOH end prod.; (b) these seeds are then grown to the gamma-FeOOH end prod. in a second stage at a pH of 4-5.5; and then (c) after filtering, washing and drying, this is dehydrated at 300-600 deq.C and reduced to magnetite in the presence of organic cpds. decomposing in the presence of Fe oxide, then oxidised to gamma-Fe2O3 with gas contg. O2; then (d) modified by pptn. of Fe(OH)2 and/or Co(OH)2 in alkaline suspension, filtration, drying and tempering under inert gas at 100-350 deg.C.
