    Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing high−molecular aliphatic polycarbonates having the following properties: the average molecular weight M w ranges from 30,000 to 1,000,000, and; the content of cyclic carbonates and polyethers equals, in total, a maximum of 5 wt. %. Said polycarbonates are produced by polymerizing carbon dioxide with at least one epoxide while using at least one catalyst selected from the group consisting of zinc carboxylates and multi−metal cyanide compounds. The invention is characterized in that the catalyst is introduced in anhydrous form, and the catalyst is firstly brought into contact with at least a partial quantity of the carbon dioxide before the epoxide is added.
