Abstract: Pyrogenically prepared, doped zinc oxide powder, wherein the doping componen t comprises at least one oxide from the group aluminium, gallium, indium, germanium, tin and is present in the doped zinc oxide powder in an amount of from 0.005 to 15 wt.%, and wherein the doped zinc oxide powder is in the for m of aggregates of primary particles having a mean maximum diameter of from 30 to 400 nm. It is prepared by oxidation from zinc powder and at least one doping agent, wherein the process zones vaporisation, nucleation, oxidation and quenching are passed through and the doping agent is metered in in the nucleation zone, in which the temperature is below the boiling temperature o f zinc. The doped zinc oxide powder can be used in electrically conductive lacquers and coatings.

Abstract: Ceric oxide powder (I) of crystalline primary particles with carbonate groups on surface and in layer near surface has Brunauer Emmett Teller (BET) surface area 25-150 m 2>/g, average primary particle diameter 5-50 nm and surface layer about 5 nm deep; has carbonate concentration decreasing continuously from surface, so that carbon (C) content from carbonate groups is 5-50 area-% at surface and 0-30 area-% at depth of about 5 nm; and contains not less than 99.5 wt.% ceric oxide, calculated as CeO 2, and 0.01-0.3 wt.% (in)organic C with respect (I). Independent claims are included for the following: (1) production of (I); (2) (I) produced by this process; (3) dispersion containing (I); (4) use of (I) or dispersion for chemical-mechanical polishing; (5) use of (I) as catalyst, UV absorber, toner component or constituent of fuel cells.

Abstract: Doped zinc oxide powder comprises doping component (0.005-15 wt.%). The doping component comprises oxides of aluminum, gallium, indium, germanium, tin, and/or silicon. The zinc oxide powder is in the form of aggregates having a mean maximum diameter of 30-300 nm. An Independent claim is also included for preparation of zinc oxide powder by treating zinc powder and doping agent(s) in vaporization, nucleation, oxidation, and quenching zones. In the vaporization zone, zinc powder is vaporized in a flame of air and/or oxygen and combustion gas under reaction conditions that oxidation of zinc does not occur. The hot reaction mixture from the vaporization zone containing zinc vapor, water vapor (reaction product of flame reaction), and optionally excess combustion gas passes through the nucleation zone and is cooled to 500-900degreesC or is cooled using inert gas, and an aerosol containing doping agent(s) is fed in an amount that corresponds to the desired amount of doping agent in the zinc oxide powder. In the oxidation zone, the mixture from the nucleation zone is oxidized with air and/or oxygen. In the quenching zone, the oxidation mixture is cooled to less than 400degreesC by addition of cooling gas.
