Abstract: of the disclosure: 2,5-Dioxo-1,2-oxa-phospholanes of the formula (I) (I) wherein R1 is an organic radical and R2 and R3 each also means organic radicals or hydrogen, are prepared by reacting 2-halogeno-formylethyl-phosphinic acid halides of the formula (II) (II) wherein R1, R2 and R3 are defined as in formula (I) and X means Cl or Br, preferably Cl, with an approximately equimolar quantity of acrylic acid. The compounds (II) may also be produced in the reaction batch and in situ by reacting about equimolar quantities of a dihalogenophosphine of the formula (III) (III) with an .alpha.,.beta.-unsaturated acid (IV) CHR2=CR3-COOH (IV) In the formulae (III) and (IV) R1, R2, R3 and X are defined as indicated above. In the reaction there is formed, in addition to the compounds (I), practically exclusively .beta.-halogenopropionic acid and no free hydrogen halide. The phospholanes (I) are valuable flame retarding agents for plastics, intermediates, for example, for the synthesis of biocidals etc. - 1a

Abstract: FLAME RETARDING LINEAR POLYESTERS AND SHAPED ARTICLES THEREOF of the disclosure: Flame-repellent linear polyesters are obtained by incorporating by condensation P-compounds having formula , wherein R and R1 are organic radicals which may also contain hetero atoms into the linear polyesters, preferably those from terephthalic acid and ethylene glycol. These polyesters are the materials flame-repellent filaments, fibers, sheets, pressmoulded and injection-moulded articles are made of, these products being used whereever especially acute risks of ignition and fire exist.

Abstract: Anionic polymer mixts. (I) with reduced prodn. of foam in water, contg. (a) an opt. neutralised or partly neutralised acid gp.-contg. polymer (A), obtd. by polymerisation of COOH gp.-contg. unsatd. cpds. with other ethylenically unsatd. cpds. in the presence of volatile basic neutralising agents (II), and opt. (b) a water-insol. polymer (B) in the form of latex particles, obtd. by emulsion polymerisation of ethylenically unsatd. cpds. in the presence of polymer (A). Also claimed is the prodn. of (I) by (a) producing polymer (A) as above and opt. producing polymer (B) in the presence of neutralised or partly neutralised (A). Pref. polymer (A) has an acid no. of 90-400 mg KOH/g and a Tg of 0-180 degrees C. Reagents (II) are basic cpds. which do not form covalent bonds with carboxyl gps. under the reaction conditions.

Abstract: Amino-urethanes (I) claimed are of formula R3-N(Re)-A-R1-NH-C(O)-O-CH2-CH(OH)-CH2- R-CH2-CH(OH)-CH2-O-C(O)-NH- R1-A-N(R2)R3 R is residue of a diglycidyl ether or ester, or 2-18 alkylene gp.; R1 is opt. branched 2-18C alkylene; R2 is H, 1-8Calkyl, or 1-8C hydroxyalkyl; R3 is R2, or R3 with R2 can form cyclic ring, or, if R2 is H then R3 can be at least one gp. of formula (a) -C(O)-O-CH2-CH(R4)-CH2- (R-CH2-CH(R4)-CH2-OmB-(R4)n R4 is OH or -CONH-PI-NHCO R6; B is residue of a polyol; m is 1-3; n is 1-6; and PI is residue of a polyisocyanate and R6 is residue of (cylco)aliphatic, or alkylaromatic alcohol, an aminoalcohol, ketoxime, or a CH- or NH- acidic cpd.: b) R3 is gp. of formula (I) R5 is H or R4; R7 is 1-8Calkyl; and s is 1-6; c) -C(O)-NH-PI-NH-C(O)-O-B-d)R8-CHOH-CH2-O-CO-; e) R8-CHOH-CH2-; R8 is H, 1-18C alkyl, or residue of a glycidyl ester or ether; or f) PI'NHCO- PI' is residue of a partly capped polyisocyanate; and A 75 chemical bond or -R1NH)r-R1NH- r is 0-6. Prodn. of a (I) by heating an at least bifunctional 2-oxo-1,3-dioxolan (II) and a prim polyamine at 20-150 deg.C is claimed. Structural formulae are given for pref. R, viz. residues of a bisphenol diglycidyl ether opt. linked by residues of a diamine, diol, dicarboxylic acid, di-isocyanate, etc. Pref. (II) is bicyclic carbonate of specified formuls esp. derived from polyglycidyl ether of a polyphenol, or a epoxide-cyclic carbonate.

Abstract: A curing agent (A) for resins (B) which can be cured by means of isocyanates, which has an amine number of 20 to 150 mg of KOH/g and an OH number of not more than 20 mg of KOH/g and which contains per molecule at least two masked isocyanate groups which are reactive under the conditions of curing, obtained by reacting (a) an amine which contains at least one .beta.-hydroxyalkyl group per molecule and has an OH number of 100 to 1,200 mg of KOH/g and an amine number of 100 to 1,200 mg of KOH/g and which, if appropriate, also contains NHCO groups, if appropriate as a mixture with another OH-functional and/or NH-functional compound, with (b) a partly masked isocyanate, if appropriate as a mixture with an at least difunctional, OH-reactive and/or NH-reactive compound. These curing agents are readily dispersible in aqueous systems, if appropriate after neutralization, and frequently increase stability in aqueous paint formulations.
