Abstract: A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) is configure to receive and sample wireless signals in a shared spectrum where the wireless signal comprise encoded symbols. The WTRU has a channel estimation device configured to process received signal samples to produce an estimate of a channel response of the received signals corresponding to a matrix H. The channel estimation device is preferably configured to process the received signal samples to produce an estimate of noise variance of the received signals. The WTRU preferably has a two stage data estimator that includes a channel equalizer and a despreader. The channel equalizer is configured to process received signal samples using the estimated channel response matrix H and the estimate of noise variance to produce a spread signal estimate of the received signals. The despreader is configured to process the spread signal estimate of the received signals produced by said channel equalizer to recover encoded symbols of the received signals.

Abstract: Symbols are to be recovered from signals received in a shared spectrum. Code s of the signals received in the shared spectrum are processed using a block Fourier transform (FT 34), producing a code block diagonal matrix. A channel response of the received signals is estimated. The channel response is extended and modified (36) to produce a block circulant matrix and a block F T (38) is taken, producing a channel response block diagonal matrix. The code block diagonal matrix is combined (40, 44, 46) with the channel response blo ck diagonal matrix. The received signals are sampled and processed using the combined code block diagonal matrix and the channel response block diagonal matrix with a Cholesky algorithm. A block inverse FT (60) is performed on a result of the Cholesky algorithm to produce spread symbols. The spread symbo ls are despread to recover symbols of the received signals.

Abstract: The present invention is related to a method and apparatus for implementing space frequency block coding (SF8C) in an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) wireless communication system. The present invention is applicable to both a closed loop mode and an open loop mode. In the closed mode, power loading and eigen-beamforming are performed based on channel state information (CSI). A channel coded data stream is multiplexed into two or more data streams. Power loading is performed based on the CS1 on each of the multiplexed data streams. SFBC encoding is preformed on the data streams for each of the paired subcarriers. Then, eigen-beamforming is performed based on the CSI to distribute elgenbemas to multiple transmit antennas. The power loading may be performed on two or more SFBC encoding blocks or on each eigenmodes. Abstract: Un método para recuperar símbolos de señales recibidas en un espectro compartido, comprendiendo el método los pasos de: - procesar los códigos de las señales recibidas en el espectro compartido utilizando una transformada de Fourier, FT, por bloques y obtener una matriz diagonal por bloques de los códigos; - estimar una respuesta del canal de las señales recibidas; - ampliar y modificar la respuesta del canal para obtener una matriz circular por bloques y calcular una FT por bloques y obtener una matriz diagonal por bloques de la respuesta del canal; - combinar la matriz diagonal por bloques de los códigos y la matriz diagonal por bloques de la respuesta del canal; - muestrear las señales recibidas; - procesar las señales recibidas utilizando la combinación de la matriz diagonal por bloques de los códigos y la matriz diagonal por bloques de la respuesta del canal con un algoritmo de Cholesky; - calcular una FT inversa por bloques sobre el resultado del algoritmo de Cholesky para obtener los símbolos ensanchados; y - desensanchar los símbolos ensanchados para recuperar los símbolos de las señales recibidas.

Abstract: La presente se refiere a un método y aparato para implementar la codificadora por bloques en espacio y frecuencia (SFBC) en un sistema de comunicaciones inalámbricas multiplex por division de frecuencia ortogonal (OFDM). La presente se aplica tanto a un modo de bucle cerrado como a un modo de bucle abierto. En el modo de bucle cerrado, la carga de potencia y la formacion del haz propio se realizan en base a la informacion del estado del canal (CSI). Una corriente de datos codificada en el canal se multiplexa en dos o más corrientes de datos. La carga de potencia se efectua en base a la CSI en cada una de las corrientes de datos multiplexadas. La codificacion SFBC se realiza en las corrientes de datos para cada una de las subportadoras agrupadas en pares. Luego, se realiza una formacion de haces propios en base a la CSI para calcular los haces propios en multiples antenas de transmision. La carga de potencia puede realizarse en dos o más bloques de codificacion SFBC o en cada modo propio. Adicionalmente, la carga de potencia puede efectuarse a través de las subportadoras o grupos de subportadoras para modos propios débiles.
